Khalifatul Masih V Highlighting Providence of Allah during his Visit to USA and Canada

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D), Congressman Keith Ellison, Khalifa of Islam: Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Ameer of USA: Dr. Ahsanullah Zafar

Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V, Mirza Masroor Ahmad had the occasion to address members of US Senate and Congress at Capitol Hill, a few weeks ago. He said in his Friday sermon of July 20th that our opponents in Pakistan tried to bring notoriety to this occasion, but their efforts were not entertained much. Their stance was that either he was going to ask US government for help or God forbid was going to conspire against Pakistan. If they have any sense of fairness, they can hear [the address] for themselves.

Our reliance is on the Being of God, the progress of the Community is with God’s grace and not with the help of any government. As for conspiring against Pakistan, we love the homeland more than these people, who neither had any role in its creation nor in establishing it. On the contrary, they are taking it to ruin. As far as ‘taking’ is concerned, during the 2008 trip to USA by Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih, only one senator had come to a reception for brief five minutes and left before the function started. He had asked Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih what he required from him. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih told him that he had not come to ask for anything. Rather he was there to tell them what kind of policies to adopt to establish peace. On the recent trip, the significance of addressing an event at the Capitol Hill was no greater for Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih than the thought of expounding aspects of Islam to leaders and educated people gathered in one place with the hope that they may think of taking the right actions.

A day prior to the event at Capitol Hill CNN interviewed Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih and suggested that it was a very significant moment for him. He replied that the significance of the occasion was not that exciting for him. He told him that his USA trip was mainly aimed at meeting people of his Community and to draw attention to enhance their religious, moral and spiritual condition. The CNN correspondent said it would be shocking for US politicians that Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih was not giving it much significance and then joked that he would not tell the politicians. Such an event may have significance in the eyes of a worldly person but it neither has any importance for us nor should it. However, out of courtesy we definitely thank them that they listened to what we had to say. One meeting was held with some military chaplains of various denominations, also prior to the Capitol Hill event. One of them put to Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih if owing to the fact that he was going to address congressmen the next day he was nervous. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih told him that he was not at all nervous because all he was going to speak about was the Qur’an and Islam and he had had occasion to deliver lectures and there was nothing to be nervous about. The person replied that he gets nervous in such situations. The reason for this is that although these people are religious leaders, for them worldliness is overriding and they are intimidated by the mention of Capitol Hill. Whereas for those who believe in the One God He alone matters. After the event one Congressman was overheard saying to another this is how openly and factually Muslim leaders should speak. God has not given this opportunity to any Muslim leader because they are more inclined to the world. Our young members should remember that we have nothing to take from these leaders rather we have to give them something and gratefulness should mainly be to God. Worldliness never works in Jama’at work. If we were to consider worldly people everything, God has the power to take back any blessing He has bestowed. Our objective is Hamd and pleasure of God; indeed, it should be our objective. Connection with worldly people is not our ultimate objective; it never has been and it never will be. Nor is it our objective to gain something from worldly people or to reach them. Be it USA’s Capitol Hill or any other chamber, it is not our ultimate objective. No matter how educated an Ahmadi may be or how many connections he may have, he or she should remember that our ultimate objective is to make the world turn to One God and to raise the banner of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) higher than any worldly chamber and worldly flag.

Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih said he spoke at Capitol Hill in light of the teaching of the Holy Qur’an and the true teaching of Islam and it was not by virtue of any personal ability of his. He said he did not consider himself very knowledgeable and was a humble person but the Messiah in whose representation he had gone to make this address and his master, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was promised ‘You have been helped with prestige…’ by God. As he prayed while been driven to Capitol Hill, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih thought that people considered the place to be a very important chamber. He said he had had no time to think this before and had the thought in the car. He prayed that he was a humble servant of God who was taking God’s message there in representation of His Messiah. Therefore, he prayed to be shown a manifestation of the promise of ‘You have been helped with prestige…’ [Tadhkirah p. 92] made to the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) on the day. And God accepted this prayer and discerning Ahmadis saw this and said that they experienced a manifestation of ‘You have been helped with prestige…’. Others too expressed similarly.

Anwer Mahmood Khan sahib who is the son of Maulana Abdul Malik Khan and lives in USA and is a member of the national amila, has written an article about the reviews of the politicians. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih thinks he should have it printed in Al Fazl and other magazines.

The event was attended by 29 congressman and senators. Also present were people from think-tanks, from the Pentagon, NGOs as well as professors. The total number was 110. It is well known that usually congressmen or senators do not stay for long at such occasions. However, they all sat through this event, with the exception of two or three who had apologised earlier. A seasoned Capitol Hill bureaucrat told Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih that in his 15 years there he had never seen any more than 10 congressmen and senators attend and they did not sit for more than 5 or 10 minutes no matter who was addressing. He said what was most amazing for him was that both the government and opposition leaders sat together.

The Path to Peace: Just Relations Between Nations

The complete text of His Holiness’s Keynote Address — in Gold Room, Rayburn Building, Capitol Hill, USA, on 6/27/12‏.

Address by Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifa‐tul Masih V

All distinguished guests السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
(Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you all)

Before proceeding, I would like to first of all take this opportunity to thank all of you for taking the time to come and listen to what I have to say. I have been requested to speak about a subject that is extremely vast and wide ranging.

It has many different aspects and therefore it is not possible for me to cover all of them in the short time available. And the subject that I have been asked to speak about is the establishment of world peace. Certainly this is the most vital and pressing issue facing the world today. However, as the time is limited, I shall only briefly give the Islamic viewpoint on the establishment of peace through just and equal relations between nations. The truth is that peace and justice are inseparable – you cannot have one without the other. And certainly this principle is something that all wise and intelligent people understand. Leaving aside those people who are determined to create disorder in the world, no one can ever claim that in any society, country or even the entire world, that there can be disorder or a lack of peace, where justice and fair dealing exists.

Nevertheless, we find that in many parts of the world disorder and a lack of peace are prevalent. And such disorder is visible both internally within countries, and externally in terms of the relations between various nations. Such disorder and strife exists even though all governments claim to make policies that are based on justice. And all claim that the establishment of peace is their primary objective. Yet, in general, there is little doubt that restlessness and anxiety is increasing in the world and so disorder is spreading. This clearly proves that somewhere along the line, the requirements of justice are not being fulfilled. Therefore there is an urgent need to try and end inequality, wherever and whenever it exists. And so as the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I would like to make a few observations about the need for, and the ways to achieve peace based on justice. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a purely religious community. It is our firm belief that the Messiah and Reformer who was destined to appear in this age and enlighten the world as to Islam’s true teachings has indeed arrived. We believe that the Founder of our Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, was that very Promised Messiah and Reformer, and thus we have accepted him. Based on his teachings, we act upon and propagate the real and true teachings of Islam that are based on the Holy Qur’an. Therefore, everything that I will say in relation to establishing peace and in relation to conducting just international relations, will be based on Qur’anic teachings. In relation to achieving world peace, all of you regularly express your opinions and indeed make great efforts. Your creative and intelligent minds allow you to present great ideas, plans and indeed a vision of peace. Thus this issue does not require me to speak from a worldly or political perspective, but instead my entire focus will be based on how to establish peace based on religion. And for this purpose I shall, as I have said, present some very important guidelines based on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an.

It is important to always remember that human knowledge and intellect is not perfect, but is in fact limited. Thus when making decisions or forming thoughts, often certain factors enter human minds, which can cloud judgement and lead to a person trying to fulfil his own rights. Ultimately, this can lead to an unjust outcome and decision being made. However God’s Law is perfect and so no vested interests or unfair provisions exist. This is because God only desires for the good and betterment of His Creation and therefore His Law is based entirely on justice. The day the people of the world come to recognise and understand this crucial point, will be the day that the foundation for true and everlasting peace will be laid. Otherwise we continue to find that although efforts are endlessly made to establish world peace, yet they are unable to provide any worthwhile results.

Reception held a day before Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad returned to London

On 16 July 2012, a special reception in honour of the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, was held at the Paramount Banquet Centre in Woodbridge, Ontario. The event was hosted by the Premier of Ontario, Hon. Dalton McGuinty and the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration for Ontario, Hon. Charles Sousa.

The event began at 11.30am with a welcome address by Ontario’s Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Charles Sousa. Thereafter, the Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty spoke about his admiration for the humanitarian efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Canada.

Premier Dalton McGuinty also spoke his pleasure at receiving Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad. He said:

“To His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad – welcome to Ontario. It was an honour to have met in 2008. We are all grateful for your presence once again. And for your dedication to promoting the values that make your community so important to our province… We are fortunate to have a strong Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that is inspired by the leadership of His Holiness to promote peace, justice, equality, respect and understanding for all humanity.”

After his remarks, the Premier invited Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad to address the audience. His Holiness used his address to speak of the importance of always upholding the truth in all matters. He said that honesty was the key to developing trust which would in turn lead to peace and justice.

Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad began his address by thanking Premier Dalton McGuinty for hosting the event. His Holiness said that even though he had a very busy schedule in Canada, he deemed it essential to attend the reception.

His Holiness said:

“I could not reject this hand of friendship as it would have been a sign of huge indecency and ungratefulness… On the one hand, we Ahmadi Muslims claim that we are the ones who display the highest moral standards and so how could it be that on the other we did not respond to friendship with friendship? How could it be that we did not respond to love with love?”

20,000 Attend Annual Convention in Canada

By Michael Simpson | Staff Writer | July 18, 2012

The Review of Religions

While a few thousand Ukrainians got down to business celebrating their culture in Vegreville over the weekend of July 6-8, nearly 20,000 Ahmadi Muslims were getting down, literally, to pray at the annual Jalsa (convention) just outside of Toronto at the same time in the name of Islam.

Recently, following a pair of stories published in the Vegreville Observer written by Rosanne Fortier upon presentations made at the Vegreville Centennial Library by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) and dialogue with Executive Director Rizwan Rabbani, the Observer was invited to Toronto to witness, from an outsider’s perspective, the convention.

A separate sect of Islam among the 73 known branches, the Ahmadi Muslims hold an annual convention in over 200 countries each year. In Canada this year, the spiritual leader for all Ahmadi Muslims, numbering an estimated 10 million, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the equivalent among Ahmadi Muslims to the Pope among Catholics, returned to speak at the Jalsa after a four-year period spent visiting other nations and attending other Jalsa’s.

The slogan of the Ahmadi, “Love for all, hatred for none,” hung on massive banners behind the front of the staging area where speakers delivered their messages. Two Muslim television stations taped and broadcasted the speeches to the world in real time.

Guest speakers at the Jalsa delivered speeches on interacting with non-Muslims, spoke of the need for religion in contemporary society, discussed Islam as a source of personal peace and also why the early years in a child’s life are most critical for mothers. “You are the child’s primary educator,” Mirza told women during his address on Friday afternoon. “Your lap is the first school they will know. It’s not enough to provide care, you must instill in them manners, early education and a love of the Holy Father to bring them closer to god.”

Awards of excellence are handed out as well. Mirza stood at the center stage and disbursed plaques recognizing excellence in academic fields, citizenship and service to the community. Boys from all ages strode across the platform to accept them, some stooping to kiss Mirza’s hand in a gesture of thanks and gratitude.
