Visit to the Shroud of Turin Exhibition
Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, described his visit to the Shroud of Turin Exhibition, in the Friday Sermon delivered on April 30, 2010.
He told that the current exhibition is taking place after ten years and that it was a special Providence of God that his trip came at the same time as the Exhibition, so that he and his companions were able to visit the sacred exhibit with very little planning on the part of Tabshir Department. Hadhrat Ahmad thanked the Christian Director of the Exhibition for the hospitality he extended to him and his team. Although photography is not allowed but when Hudur asked they allowed photographs to be taken without the use of flash.
The shroud is preserved in a large glass case which is filled with certain gases to conserve the cloth. He mentioned that it was also explained that the location of the shroud can be traced back to the fourteenth century. Some facts also point to where the shroud was kept dating back to the fifth century. The first ever photograph taken of the shroud was by Seconda Pia in 1898 in which a positive image could be seen through the negative. For additional details read English translation or listen to the Friday Sermon online in different languages.
How to be free from sin
By Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad the Promised Messiah
Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, writes that man is by his very nature averse to things he believes to be harmful, and if he commits sin it is only because he does not truly believe in the existence of God and in the Day of Reckoning. Had he possessed the same certainty about the accountability of sin, as he does, for instance, about the harmfulness of a poison or a snake, he would never even think of transgressing Divine commandments.
The Promised Messiah, may peace be on him, also argues that a true religion must be judged by its ability to lead its followers to certainty about the existence of God. The holy author makes a detailed comparison between Islam and other major religions, and concludes that Islam alone can lead man to perfect awareness and, consequently, to freedom from sin.
The book can be read online.
Belief in atonement encourages sin
Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said and it is recorded in a 5 volume book called Malfoozat:
The claim that by believing in atonement one can get rid of a life of sin and the faculty of sin leaves such a person, has no proof whatsoever. It is because this thesis is itself rooted in sin. The ability to shun sin comes from fear of God! But, how can the fear of God flourish when it is believed that our sins have been taken up by Christ. From this I have to conclude that someone who believes in the dogma of atonement is far removed from the fear of God.
You can read a three page detailed exposition about atonement in Urdu online in Malfoozat Vol. 1.
Original Sin: Examining it with logic and science
By Zia H Shah MD
Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said:
“The examples of human actions and their results are all too pervasive in the laws of nature, but we see no example for the Christian concept of atonement. For example, there is hunger and it is relieved by eating, likewise, there is thirst and it is quenched by drinking water. So, we learn that by eating food or drinking water, hunger and thirst are taken care of. But, it does not happen that Thomas is hungry and John eats food and hunger of Thomas is relieved. Were there any such examples in the laws of nature then perhaps we could find an excuse for atonement. So, when there is no metaphor or allegory for atonement in the laws of nature and as humans recognize truth by observing metaphors, we find no reason to believe in the Christian concept of atonement. Likewise, we find no metaphor for this in man made laws. It has never been known that Robert commits murder and Mark is hanged for it. In summary, Christian atonement is a strange principle that does not have any metaphor, whatsoever, to demonstrate its reasonability.”
If there was evidence that Jesus ate food and the disciples were satiated then there would be reason to believe in atonement, in lack of such evidence, it is time to give up this futile idea. Several impossibilities have to be true before the Christian concept of atonement can become credible:
- Adam and Eve need to be the first human couple.
- Human sins and actions have to be able to affect human genome.
- Original Sin has to be inheritable.
- Mother Mary has to be able to give birth to a Son of God.
- Jesus has to become a human and divine hybrid.
- Jesus has to offer sacrifice willingly.
- It has to stand to logic and justice that sins of humanity are transferred to Jesus, may peace be on him.

The First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea and the Doctrine of Trinity
By Dr. Amtul Qudoos Farhat, Canada
There have been 21 significant councils in the history of the Church with wide division of acceptance among various sects of Christianity. The first five councils invented, defined, regulated and propagated the description of the doctrine of trinity. Its evolution, clarification, explanation and definition continued through to the Sixth Council. The Nicene Creed in 325 CE defined that Jesus, the Son of God, is truly divine, equal and of the same substance as God Himself. The Second Council added the clauses to protect the divinity of the Holy Ghost in the Nicene Creed. The Third Council declared Mary the Mother of God. The Fourth Council in 451 CE defined the two natures (divine and human) in Christ, so on and so forth. It is high time to remedy the mistakes made at Nicaea 1685 years ago! [ read more ]
From Jesus to Christ: the First Christians
A PBS documentary
This is a four hour PBS documentary about the early history of Christians, which can be seen in the video section of Google.com. Let us start our review with two verses of the Holy Quran. It states: And when Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary, didst thou say to men, ‘Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah?'”, he will answer, “Holy art Thou. I could never say that to which I had no right. If I had said it, Thou wouldst have surely known it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. It is only Thou Who art the Knower of hidden things. “I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst command me — ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them; and Thou art Witness over all things. (Al Quran 5:117-118)
For a believing Muslim these verses give the essence of how the early history of Christianity started in the time of Jesus, may peace be on him. The Trinitarian Christians, under the influence of St. Paul have a fairly different idea about early Christianity and they try to find and defend their religion by claiming orthodoxy of Pauline’s views. In this perspective it becomes important for all seekers of truth to know as much as possible about the first three centuries of the Christian history and this four hour PBS documentary that is available online should be a good start. Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why
By Prof. Bart Ehrman
Here is a detailed lecture by Prof. Bart Ehrman, describing the compilation of the Bible, how copies of the copies were made in the medieval ages, introducing countless mistakes. Ehrman’s Book, “Misquoting Jesus” (1 of 5)
In this book he has written, “There are more differences among our manuscripts than there are words in the New Testament.”
Once our Christian brethren and sisters fully grasp the limitations of the Holy Bible, some of them may be willing to trade it in for the Holy Quran. Let us see if you are one of them?
If you are already a Muslim then the good news for you is that the Holy Quran says, “Blessed is Allah, Who has sent down the Discrimination (the Quran) to His servant, that he may be a Warner to all the worlds.” (Al Quran 25:2)
The All Knowing God has given the learned Muslims a yard stick or litmus test to distinguish and discriminate between truth and make belief. Some of them have an immediate ability to be a judge of scholarship of New Testament researchers like Ehrman, if they pick up the right yard stick from the Holy Quran.
