Friday Sermon about Fasting
By Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, delivered on September 21, 2007.
Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V

His sermon was a commentary of the following two verses of the Holy Quran:

“The prescribed fasting is for a fixed number of days, but whoso among you is sick or is on a journey shall fast the same number of other days; and for those who are able to fast only with great difficulty is an expiation — the feeding of a poor man. And whoso performs a good work with willing obedience, it is better for him. And fasting is good for you, if you only knew.

The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was sent down as guidance for mankind with clear proofs of guidance and discrimination. Therefore, whosoever of you is present at home in this month, let him fast therein. But whoso is sick or is on a journey, shall fast the same number of other days. Allah desires to give you facility and He desires not hardship for you, and that you may complete the number and that you may exalt Allah for His having guided you and that you may be grateful.” (Al Surah Al-Baqarah 2:185-186)

Friday Sermon about Interest Based Economy
By Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, delivered on October 31st, 2008.

His sermon was a commentary of the following verses of the Holy Quran:

“Have they not seen that Allah enlarges the provision to whomsoever He pleases, and straitens it to whomsoever He pleases? In that are Signs for a people who believe. So give to the kinsman his due, and to the needy and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the favor of Allah, and it is they who will prosper. Whatever you pay as interest that it may increase the wealth of the people, it does not increase in the sight of Allah; but whatever you give in Zakat seeking the favor of Allah–it is these who will increase their wealth manifold. It is Allah Who has created you, and then He has provided for you; then He will cause you to die, and then He will bring you to life. Is there any of your ‘partners’ who can do these things? Glorified be He and exalted above that which they associate with Him.” (Al Surah Ar-Rum 30:38-41)

Islam’s Response to Contemporary Issues
by Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (rh), Fourth Successor of the Promised Messiah (as)

Mirza Tahir Ahmad

His book has several chapters and one deals with economic peace and interest related issues.

The illusion of prosperity has been created by a web of debt. All Western countries, states, corporations, and individuals in the form of mortgages, student loans and credit card loans owe trillions of dollars to the International Central Bankers. With the US Government Federal loan of more than 11 trillion dollars and the deficit for the year 2009 expected to be more than 1.8 trillion dollars, the only way to keep this illusion going is to enroll additional people to loan money to. In pursuit of that goal more than a trillion dollars were loaned out to the Chinese consumers in first six months of 2009. A figure that is more than the total annual GDP of India! With the federal debt predicted to balloon to 20 trillion dollars by 2019, Mirza Tahir Ahmad’s words appear prophetic, when he had written,

“Let us turn to the USA to see how things may work there. Without doubt, it is a country with the largest home-market to support its industry, so much so that some economists believe that even if America is cut off from the international community, the broad base of the home-market would guarantee the survival of its industry. But such economists do not take account of other related factors. If you apply, for instance, the case discussed earlier to the America scenario, you will certainly begin to see that there can be no logical conclusion other than the one drawn earlier. It is only a question of time. With a huge budget deficit and trillions of dollars in outstanding debts, the USA as a whole has already overspent and the American public is under very heavy debt to its own future. The buying power of the nation as a whole is bound to slow down or lending houses will have to go bankrupt. It is only a question of size. But the inevitable laws of nature must operate and apply equally to all similar situations.”

About interest and wars he writes, “The warning about a war from God in the verses just cited (2:279-280) means that the laws of nature governed by God would begin to punish the capitalist society when the factors which have been discussed earlier ultimately lead man to economic imbalance and warfare. Disorders, disturbances and wars always follow exploitation and usurpation of the rights of the poor. We warn you about a war with God and His Messenger means that the state, which thrives on interest, would inevitably end up in a situation where the nations will rise in arms against each other.

Time does not permit me to elaborate this aspect of interest. In the Holy Quran, verses prohibiting interest always follow verses on warfare. This indicates the inter-relation of interest and war. Those who are familiar with the history of the First and Second World Wars would remember that capitalism played a disastrous role in not only causing but also prolonging those wars.”

The Case Against the Fed
by Murray Rothbard, Reviewed by Zia H Shah MD

If Muslims are to have interest free economy they need to fully understand the history of present day economy and all its pros and cons in depth. The Islamic teachings about interest should not be studied in the limited scenario of what happens when you take a loan on interest to buy a car, but in the larger context of what interest based economy does to the global economy, what money supply and central banks have to do with the US Government Federal loan of more than 11 trillion dollars and why the state of California, the sixth largest economy in the world is nearing bankruptcy. Many of the other USA states are failing economically. Dreams of retirement for millions of Americans have been shattered. We no longer have the luxury of burying the proverbial head in the sand! What keeps us from the understanding the basics of the economic system is our unreasonable awe of the system. Demystifying the system is not matter of available time or intellect; it is an issue of trust in our own wisdom.

Murray N. Rothbard (1926-1995) was the S.J. Hall distinguished professor of economics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and dean of the Austrian School of economics. He served as vice president for academic affairs at the Ludwig van Mises Institute, was editor of the Review of Austrian Economics, and his writings appeared in many journals and publications. This short book of 150 pages is a well written book, easy to read, that does not assume any prior knowledge of the reader and explains this greatest mystery of our times beginning from the scratch.

Some of his other writings can be reviewed on the web.

According to Murray the Federal Reserve is virtually in total control of the nation’s vital monetary system, is accountable to nobody–and this strange situation, if acknowledged at all, is invariably trumpeted as a virtue. Read the review of the book by Zia H Shah MD online by clicking here.

Targeted killing of another Ahmadi Muslim – Rana Ata-ul-Karim

Rana Ata-ul-Karim fell to assassins’ bullets at his home on August 6, 2009 at about 10 a.m. He was 36. He left behind his widow, a son aged 9 and two daughters 4 and 3 years old.

Rana Ata-ul-Karim Noon

Rana Karim was a well-known Ahmadi in the neighborhood. He had a master’s degree in agriculture and was in the business of production and distribution of poultry feeds and medicines. In the preceding few days unknown persons were seen moving around his residence in a mysterious way. He became careful and took some precautions. On the day of the incident when he went out, three armed men entered his house, shut his family in one room, and waited for his return. His wife pleaded the intruders to take away whatever they wanted, but they took nothing except life. As soon as Rana Karim entered his home, they fired at him. He was hit thrice. One bullet hit his neck and damaged his windpipe, the other hit close to his ear while the third hit low and damaged his kidney. He died on the spot.

Shameless and blasphemous acts of Pakistani authorities in removing the Kalima from the Ahmadiyya Mosque in Pakistan

Watch another heart-breaking video report where Pakistani Elite police wearing shirts that say “NO FEAR” on their backs are removing the names of Allah and Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Islamic Creed (Kalima) that reads “There is none worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” from the mosque and homes of Ahmadi Muslims in Lathianwala, Faisalabad.

Watch on YouTube: Acts of Blasphemy by Pakistani authorities

Approximately 300 Policemen and Elite Force commandos raided Ahmadiyya houses on 10th August, 2009 to commit the shameless act of Official Blasphemy having “No Fear” of Allah, the Almighty.

Pakistan Elite Police erasing Kalima from mosque

Since 1952 the Kalima was on the mosque proclaiming the Oneness of God and Truthfulness of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), yet in the unfortunate country of Pakistan, there is no respect left for God or his Prophet (saw) and his name is being chipped off using hammers. Inna lillahe wa inna ilaihi rajeeon.

The atrocities did not end at this. 32 Ahmadi Muslims of this village were booked for blasphemy of Holy Quran and Holy Prophet (saw). This was all pre-planned with the support of Pakistani authorities. Watch this MTA Urdu Video with more details of this unfortunate incident, with interviews and some comments by Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:

Scientific Revelations Point to a God
(by George Earl Davis)

As a physicist, I have had the privilege of seeing something of the unbelievably complex structure of the universe, in which the internal vibrations of the smallest atom are no less wonderful than the tremendous activity of the greatest star; where every ray of light, every physical and chemical reaction, every characteristic of every living thing, comes into being and runs its course in obedience to the same immutable laws. This is the picture science has unfolded, and the longer one examines it the more intricate and beautiful it becomes.

Blessings of Prayer
(by The Promised Messiah [as])

“The God of Islam is the same God Who is visible in the mirror of the law of nature and is discernible in the book of nature. Islam has not presented a new God but has presented the same God Who is presented by the light of man’s heart, by the conscience of man, and by heaven and earth.” [Majmu'a Ishtiharat, Vol. II, pp. 310-311]

He adds:

“A philosopher, as I have said already, contemplating the heavens and earth and reflecting on the perfect orderliness of the universe, merely states that there ought to be a Creator. But I lead to a higher stage and affirm on the basis of my personal experience that God is.” [Malfuzat, Vol. III, p. 16]

“Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced,” says John Keats and adds, “A proverb is no proverb to you until life has illustrated it.” So, even though all religious people believe in God the creator and may even give lip service to prayers or Dua but only the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community seems to have genuinely experienced it in recent times.

For a better understanding of prayers read the book the Blessings of Prayer by the Messiah of this age, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him).
