Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat throughout the world today celebrated the 103rd anniversary of its system of spiritual leadership known as ‘Khilafat’. This system has existed since the passing of the Founder of the Community in 1908. Under this system Ahmadi Muslims throughout the world are united under the leadership and guidance of the ‘Khalifa’ who is the Head of the Community worldwide. The total unity of the Ahmadiyya Community makes it unique amongst all Muslim groups.
The current Khalifa is Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad who was elected to lead the Community in April 2003. Although based in London he is accessible to all Ahmadi Muslims worldwide through his sermons and his various tours.
Earlier today in his Friday Sermon His Holiness spoke about the 103rd anniversary by stating that the purpose of Khilafat is to carry on the work of a Prophet. Thus after the passing of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, the system of Khilafat was re-established.
Speaking about the blessings of Khilafat, he said:
“The fears or difficulties of those who stay close to Khilafat will transform into peace and tranquillity… Today if you look at the majority of the Muslim world then you will see that the vast majority of Muslims are filled with turmoil and anxieties. May God grant the Muslim community the capability of recognising the truth.”
His Holiness said that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat had suffered horrific persecution since its inception but despite this it continued to progress and succeed. He said:
“In the current era of the fifth Khilafat, the jealousy and opposition to our community has reached an unprecedented extreme. Innocent Ahmadi Muslims are subjected to the most cruel and violent attacks. But despite all of this the Ahmadiyya Khilafat is granted the Help of God who is the master of all powers. And thus the plans and attacks of the opponents of this community will continue to be frustrated, God Willing.”
The Friday Sermon of Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad was broadcast live throughout the world on MTA International. This channel is broadcast continually worldwide and In the UK can be viewed on Sky 787.
