Al-Shaheed - The Witness, The Observer

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad(rh)

Today Hazoor delivered his Friday Sermon on the Divine attribute of Al-Shaheed (The Witness, The Observer). Explaining the connotation of the word ‘Shaheed’ Hazoor said that it means observing something - while being present - with the obvious sight or with discerning insight.

Hazoor elucidated the subject with the customary reference to several Quranic verses and their various commentaries. Hazoor said that the Holy Quran admonishes regarding rights of mankind on each other and that while for the obedient it is a promise it serves as a warning for the disobedient. All peace and goodness is from Allah and man creates his own misery. Allah the Exalted bore witness by fulfilling His prophecy in time by the advent of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and Allah also bore witness in that Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him) was indeed from Him by granting him triumph over his enemies.

Commenting on verse (5:118) of Surah Al-Ma'idah that conclusively illustrates that Jesus (on whom be peace) died a natural death Hazoor explained that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said that on the Day of Judgment when Allah the Exalted will send some of his ummah to hell for making innovations in religion the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) will reply like Jesus (on whom be peace) had that while he lived he was witness to what his ummah did but after his death only Allah was a Witness over them. Further expounding Hazoor said that the Quranic verse decisively demonstrates and bears witness that Jesus (on whom be peace) is dead and that the verse does not give any testimony about Jesus’ (on whom be peace) second coming.

Hazoor said that nothing is hidden from Allah the Exalted and that He watches over everything great and small.
