Continuing with the subject of the Divine qualities of Al-Shahid and Al-Shaheed Hazoor began the Friday Sermon today by further explaining the connotations by means of lexicon. Hazoor said Shaheed is an attribute of Allah which signifies a Being from Whom nothing is hidden and Shahid is One whose words are based on knowledge, and the two words connote a Being that is present. A Shaheed is also one who gives one’s life in the way of Allah in that they are always alive in the Presence of Allah and also that the angels bear witness to their admittance to Paradise.
Hazoor related that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said that after death a person with piety does not desire to return to this world, but a Shaheed (martyr) wishes to repetitively return to this world in order to go through his experience again and again and that if a person sincerely and most truly seeks martyrdom then Allah grants him that status even if that person meets his death on his bed.
Hazoor cited several Quranic verses with reference to Allah the Exalted bearing Witness for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) and said that Allah displayed miracles that were signs of the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings be on him) truthfulness. Hazoor said when the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) prophethood was established and all his reasoning and proofs were evident and yet some did not believe in him, addressing them he simply said that Allah was sufficient for him as a Witness.
Hazoor recounted that the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that a revelation is ineffectual without a practical testimony. Just as any governmental employee is protected against adversaries by his judicial rights etc. people who try to contend with those appointed and established by Allah are destroyed.
