Hazoor delivered today’s Friday Sermon on the Divine attribute of Al-Nur (The Light). Hazoor explained that Nur is that light which helps to see. Hazoor said Nur connotes the worldly light that assists sight and also discernment/insight. Allah has called Himself Nur of the heavens and the earth in the Holy Quran for He is the One who bestows light profusely.
Elucidating the concept of Nur Hazoor said that the identification of true believers is that they come from darkness towards light and that they discover a positive change in their condition. Hazoor said that it is not possible to have fear of God and to shun this world and to come into light from darkness without belief and that the means to achieve this belief is the Word of God. Hazoor explained that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said that the Holy Quran is a Book with guidance and light, Hazoor added that Allah the Exalted bestowed two exclusive lights to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) that had not been granted to anyone before him and they are: Surah Fatiha and the last verses of Surah Baqarah.
Further explaining the subject of Nur Hazoor said that there is no station higher than the one where a person becomes Allah’s beloved and none was more deserving than the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) of this and that is why Allah has called him nur.
Hazoor said Allah the Exalted made all creation from darkness and then added light to it and that the difference between light and darkness is that there is discernment in light whereas darkness is devoid of it. Hazoor said when Allah grants spiritual light to a person, they are as if bestowed a sort of purity and this distinguishes them from those who wander in the darkness of ignorance.
Hazoor recounted that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) enjoined that through funeral prayer and general prayers for the deceased Allah the Exalted illuminates the graves.
