Hazoor continued with the theme of the Divine attribute of Al-Nur (The Light) in his Friday Sermon today. Explaining the concept as ever speaking with reference to selected Quranic verses, elucidating ahadith and various commentaries Hazoor recounted that upon being queried the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) had informed that it was not possible to see Allah the Exalted for He was Pure Light or Nur, he also enjoined that the discerning insight of a true believer had Allah’s Nur in it.
Hazoor said that Allah’s Nur also connotes the Divine Order through which the heavens are illuminated by the angels, the earth is illuminated by the Prophets of God and indeed the physical universe with the heavenly bodies that the sun and the moon are.
Hazoor said that Allah the Exalted governs the heavens and the earth with illuminating rationale and that Nur also connotes guidance and Allah is indeed the Guide for all. Hazoor said Allah’s Light or Nur is exclusively His own and that all other lights emanate from His Light, he said that indeed Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth and that from Him alone is the luminosity of eternalness. Hazoor further added that the quality of a believer to be rightly guided is like a light he also said that the clarity of rational alone does not bring about guidance and advantage, rather it only comes with Allah’s grace.
Quoting from the writings of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) Hazoor said that the latent light that removes all the metaphoric darkness only comes from Allah and it comes to those who completely reduce their own selves to naught, Hazoor said surely this light is only descended on the heart which has been burnished with the fire of self-effacement.
