Friday Sermon: Al-Nur - The Divine Light

October 11th, 2002

In continuation of last week’s sermon Hazoor further elucidated the verses of Surah Al Talaq that illustrate the Divine attribute of Al Nur or The Light.

Quoting from various commentaries Hazoor said that the verses depict kufr or non-belief as darkness and the knowledge of Allah’s Signs as Nur or Light and mention the abundance with which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) recited the Holy Quran, which in turn illuminated the world with the message of Allah.

Hazoor said that Nur certainly comes from Allah the Exalted and indeed His book, the Holy Quran and His Messenger, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) are most the excellent portrayals of His Nur. Hazoor said that it is through the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings on him) that we have obtained a portion of the blessings of the treasure that was granted to him by Allah. Hazoor added that the beam of guidance that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) brought spreads like sunshine.

Hazoor concluded on a prayer "may our community be, for the sake of the Seal of all the Prophets (peace and blessings be on him), driven out of the darkness of ignorance and enters into Nur or Light."
