Al Rauf - The Compassionate

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad(rh)

In his Friday Sermon today Huzur continued with the subject of Divine Compassion, Al Ra'uf. Speaking with reference to verse (3:31) of Surah Aal-e-`Imran

Huzur said that Allah the Exalted certainly has a most kind and compassionate way with His servants. His cautions and warnings against His punishment are designed as a source of deterrent and He puts them in place by virtue of His compassion. In drawing a parallel Huzur said that the clearer and the more obvious the traffic warning signs on the roadside are, the more alert, cautious and protected the motorist is.

Huzur further elucidated the subject in light of several Ahadith and said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) told us that the kindness and compassion that all creation mutually reciprocates is a consequence of Allah’s allocation to them all a mere hundredth out of His mercy and compassion, the remainder He has set aside for His own bestowal on His creation. Huzur recounted that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said that no one’s good deeds would ensure entry into Paradise, rather it will be the grace and mercy of Allah that will enable them to do so.

Huzur related many Ahadith illustrating the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings be on him) compassion for animals and his directions for compassionate treatment towards living creatures ranging from camels, dogs and cats to birds’ eggs in the nest. Hazoor also briefly touched upon the Promised Messiah’s (on whom be peace) compassionate nature and his general advise on kindness towards living creatures that mostly centred on references to the compassion of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him).

Next Huzur announced that today is the third day of a most auspicious annual Jalsa taking place in Qadian. Huzur said for today the organisers of the Jalsa anticipate an estimated attendance of 55,000 to 60,000. Several Indian provincial dignitaries have sent their goodwill messages for the Jalsa. In conclusion Huzur said to remember all the participants of the Jalsa in our prayers.
