Al Mujeeb - The Answerer of prayer

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V(aba)

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah be his Helper) delivered today’s Friday Sermon on the subject of the Divine attribute of Al Mujeeb (The Answerer of prayer). With reference he recited verse 187 of Surah Al Baqarah (2:187) and explained that although Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (may Allah have mercy on him) had already covered this subject [in his series of Sermons on Divine attributes], Huzoor(aba) chose the theme for its appropriateness to the current situation in that Allah’s favour [to the Jama’at] may be mentioned.

With reference to ahadith Huzoor(aba) explained that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said that Allah is Most Modest, Most Noble and Most Generous, in that when a human raises his two hands in prayer, it is contrary to Allah’s Modesty to turn them away unanswered and that Allah treats His servants according to their thought-processes; if they remember Him in their hearts or mention Him in an assembly or get closer to Him by any measure, big or small, His treatment is always in accordance: if they walk to Him, He indeed runs to them.

Huzoor(aba) said [in the last few days] the Jama’at was in such a state of anxiety why would then He not have come running to us!

Further elucidating the subject Huzoor(aba) read excerpts from the writings of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) explaining that at times Allah answers our prayers in the way we wish things to turn out and at times He makes us agree and submit to His Will. It is a ‘friendly’ connection and a person of the glorious stature of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) whose acceptance of prayer was second to none; his submission to the Will of Allah was also of the highest order. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that during his prayers the well being of his friends and acquaintances was always foremost in his mind. Huzoor(aba) added that may Allah enable him to act on the Sunnah of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) in that the pain of the Community may become greater to him than his personal pain.

Huzoor(aba) said that the grief of the passing away of Khalifatul Masih IV (may Allah have mercy on him) had been backbreaking for us. He then recited verse 56 of Surah Al-Nur (24:56) that gives glad tidings of Khilafat to believers and prayed that may this dearest Community be never among the ungrateful.

Huzoor(aba) read out excerpts from Al Wasiyyat, the Promised Messiah’s writing in which he prophesied the institution of Khilafat as the Second Manifestation. He wrote: “It has always been the way of God Almighty to show two manifestations of His Power…It is impossible that he should now change this long established Divine practice…And this second manifestation will be better for you as it is everlasting and will remain unbroken till the Day of Judgment.”

Next Huzoor(aba) narrated a long quote of Khalifatul Masih IV on the certainty of the institution of Khilafat, its Divine derivation and therefore the irrelevance of putting undue significance to any ‘personalities’ regarding it and the nucleus of the Khilafat e Ahmadiyya being the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Huzoor(aba) said today we bear witness that the glad tiding given to us by Khalifatul Masih IV (may Allah have mercy on him) has been fulfilled word for word and God has shown us specimens of sincerity the like of which cannot be witnessed on the face of this earth.

Huzoor(aba) stressed on the significance of prayers and requested that much prayers are said for him.

He said he wished to make the sanctity of the system of the Jama’at and the institution of Khilafat be known and admonished against negative tittle-tattle made in assemblies and said that action would be taken against those who indulged in this. He requested that the community assists him with prayers.
