Hamd - Glorification of Allah

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V(aba)

Huzoor(aba) chose the subject of Hamd (glorification of Allah) for his Friday Sermon today. With reference he recited verse 44 of Surah Al A’raf (7:44). Huzoor(aba) explained that the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) taught us that the word Hamd connotes the praise of a worthy good deed or an intentional favour; however, the genuine application of this word is on the Being of Allah the Exalted Who bestows without any compulsion and that He alone is the Originator/Source of all praise that is seemingly aimed at others. Huzoor(aba) said that the subject of dua (prayer) is such that a true believer cannot envisage a moment devoid of it and when this dua is granted acceptance it is then that believers’ hearts resonate with glorification of Allah. Huzoor(aba) added that in the past few days when the entire Community prayed most fervently to Allah the Exalted and when He with His grace alone changed our state of fear into peace the entire Community expressed its joy in a manner that is exclusive to us and is indeed sufficient proof of the truthfulness of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Huzoor(aba) said when Allah promises Paradise to believers He lets them have a glimpse of it in this world as well through spectacles of extreme sincerity and affection. He said he notices that his daily post is replete with people expressing sincere affection for him that is only the sake of Allah. This, Huzoor(aba) said inspires and stimulates him greatly and in reciprocation he feels corresponding emotions.

Relating to a revelation of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace): “Praise be to God Who removed my grief and gave me that thing which is not granted to anyone else in this era” Huzoor(aba) enthused the Community not to be complacent and to move on to establish higher objectives. He related the example of the fall of Mecca when in a moment of great triumph the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) displayed extreme humility in that his head was bowed in submission to Allah. Huzoor(aba) recounted the hadith that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said there are two assertions which are very easy on the tongue but carry great weight and Allah loves them: Subhan Allah wabi hamdayhi, Subhan Allah hilazim (Exalted is Allah with all His Glory, Exalted is Allah with all His Majesty). In another hadith Huzoor(aba) explained that on the Day of Judgment a group of people will enter Paradise under a banner, these will be the people who had been grateful to Allah under all circumstances.

Next Huzoor(aba) enjoined the Community to refrain from unproductive analysis of his pronouncements. He said he considered MTA a blessing as a most valuable tool for tarbiyyat (moral and spiritual education and training) and that he will continue to, as Allah will enable him to, avail of it, if and when he will deem it necessary and in a manner of his choice. His affectionate message to all was to keep him posted but desist from any analytical remarks. Huzoor(aba) prayed that may we take our Community onwards midst resonance of glorification of Allah.
