Al Khabir - The All-Aware

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V(aba)

Further elaborating the Divine attribute of Al Khabir (The All Aware) Huzoor(aba) began his Friday Sermon with the customary Quranic depiction and quoted verse two of Surah Hud (11:2). Reading from a commentary by Hazrat Musleh Maud (may Allah be pleased with him) Huzoor(aba) said that the subject matter of the verses of the Holy Quran takes one from wrongdoing to goodness and by declaring that Allah indeed is Al Khabir He makes it known that He responds to both the apparent good and the latent evil. In detailing the times to come in the Quran Allah has made it abundantly clear that He keeps an eye on the future. Huzoor(aba) said as a consequence of the sombre mention and revelations about the past and future sedition of people in Surah Hud the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) experienced severe angst and commented that the Surah had [prematurely] aged him. Huzoor(aba) said today the responsibility of furthering the cause of Islam lies on our shoulders and that it is only through the organisational system of the Jama’at that we are able to further this cause. Huzoor(aba) urged all that it is our obligation to honour the fervent love for the Truth that we feel and to bring the world in general and the Muslim ummah in particular under the banner of this true teaching.

Other Quranic references that Huzoor(aba) expounded to further elucidate the subject of the Divine attribute of All Aware were (17:18), (35:32), (42:28) and (49:14).

As regards the prophecies of the Holy Quran Huzoor(aba) related verse 5 of Surah Al Takwir (81:5) and with reference to a corroborating hadith explained that this is a symbolic narration that camels will be redundant as a mode of transport, as was the custom at the time the Holy Quran was revealed, and means of travel as we know them now, including the railways etc. will be in vogue. Another example Huzoor(aba) gave was verse 11 (81:11) of the same Surah and said that this was a prophecy about the Latter-Days when there will be a profusion of publication as we observe in the current day and age. Huzoor(aba) referred to verse 9 of Surah Al Nahl (16:9) and said that therein is a message that in future up till then unknown means of conveyance will be around, Huzoor(aba) cited the innovative transport systems run by solar energy as one example.

Huzoor(aba) recited Surah Al Fil (Ch. 105) and pointed out that therein is a prophecy of the times when at its zenith, the developed world, will be in pursuit of terminating Islam. As the Holy Quran recounts the time when Abraha’s army came to destroy Mecca but was dealt with by a swarm of birds throwing pebbles on it, thus annihilating it, similarly if a nation ever decides to dishonour Islam or Mecca it will be destroyed in a comparable way. Huzoor(aba) referred to verse 2 of Surah Al Qamar (54:2) and explained that this Surah was revealed while the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) was still in Mecca and was enduring severe persecution at the hands of those in power. At this time the moon was symbolic of the land of Arab and here the Divine message is revealed that the regime in power would be destroyed. Indeed this materialized and as if, the ‘moon did rent asunder’ and Islam was triumphant.

Next Huzoor(aba) related a few ahadith illustrating that Allah would make the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings be on him) aware of many things to come, which he would predict. Similarly Huzoor(aba) recounted incidents from the life of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) where he was given prior knowledge of things to come.
