SUMMARY OF FRIDAY SERMON
by
the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community
April 4th, 2003
Hazuraba continued to give his Friday Sermon on the Divine attribute of Al
Qawiy (The Powerful). With reference to verse
166 of Surah Al Baqarah (Chapter
2) Hazuraba elucidated the subject with several ahadith. Hazuraba said that the
Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) enjoined that La hola wala
qoowata illa billahay (There is no power save Allah’s help [to protect from sins
and to do good]) is a treasure among the treasures of Paradise and enjoined
to say it at the time when the mu’adhdhin says ‘Hayya alal
Salaah’ (Come
to prayer) during the adhan (Call for Prayer).
Hazuraba recounted that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said
the following upon meeting someone suffering from severe pain: “I come
in the refuge of Allah the Exalted with His Greatness and His Power against
this pain.”
Hazuraba narrated episodes from the blessed life of the Holy Prophet (peace and
blessings be on him) illustrating his exceptional bravery combined with his
complete faith and reliance on Allah.
Hazuraba said that the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) forbade to indulge
in innovative practices to overcome problems and anxieties and enjoined to
make entreaties direct to Allah and seek His help with payers like: ‘Ya
hayyo Ya Qayyum bay rahamatayka nastaghees’ (O Living, O Self-Subsisting
and All-Sustaining Allah, grant me Thy mercy). The Promised Messiah (on whom
be peace) said a momin’s (believer’s) weapon is his prayer.
Hazuraba further elucidated the subject with reference to Quranic verses, among
them verses 40 & 41 of Surah Al Hajj (Chapter 22) and said that the current
situation in Iraq is a form of secondary Jehad in that the Iraqis are compelled
to defend their country, however this is not the kind of Jehad regarding which
Allah has promised dominance and consequential triumph and that the Jehad of
the first order is only the one that is fought when there is hindrance and
prevention from carrying out of Allah’s commandment.
Quoting from the writings of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) Hazuraba
said that everything listens to the sound of Allah and it is the height of
Divine wisdom that penetrates the core of each particle. The more one reflects
on an object the more one discovers about it and it is indeed His wondrous
magnificence that just as His greatness is limitless so is His subtlety. It
is His strong hand that carries the heaven and the earth and all that lies
in between. Allah manifests His light by descending it on the heart of the
truthful and no matter how much people deride and scheme Allah is always dominant.
Hazuraba quote an Urdu verse from one of his own poems. It can be translated
as follows:
‘
God shall reduce them to dust and shall disgrace them publicly’
Hazuraba said God shall obliterate the present day whirlwinds of antagonism.
Next Hazuraba said that people ask him regarding the Iraq situation as to what
should the Ahmadis do. Hazuraba said the Ahmadiyya Community should definitely
offer financial aid to the people of Iraq through our own charity ‘Humanity
First’, Hazuraba added the Iraqi people are in extreme hardship. As regards
prayers for the Iraq situation Hazuraba enjoined to say two prayers, one of which
is:
Allahumma mazzik hum kulla momazzaqin wa sahiqhum tas hiqan
O Allah! reduce them to smithereens, crush them and obliterate them
Hazuraba said to be mindful that from among ‘them’ there are many
who are sympathetic to the people of Iraq and that our malediction is not aimed
at them, he said may Allah protect those people and may He seize those who
oppress.
