Quran Search Tips
You can increase the accuracy of your searches by adding operators that fine-tune your keywords. Most of the options listed on this page can be entered directly into the Quran search box or selected from the Quran Advanced Search page.
By default, the Quran
Search Engine looks for verses that contain either of the words you
specify in the search box (OR search).
+ " Searches
Further refine your results by
including all specified words in the search. To do this, simply place a plus sign ("
+ ") in front of the term you want to definitely include in your
search. Be sure to add a space before the plus sign.
For example, if you wanted to find verses in the Quran that
definitely include "Jesus" as well as "Moses" you could type:

Further refine your results by excluding certain words from your search. To do this, simply place a minus sign (" - ") in front of the term you want to omit. Be sure to add a space before the minus sign.
For example, if you wanted to find verses in the Quran that refer to a "book" but not "People of the Book" you could type:
You can also search for complete phrases by enclosing them in quotation marks (" "). This will give you all of the verses that contain the exact phrase you specified. This is especially useful when searching for proper names or famous quotes.
For example, if you wanted to find the verse in the Quran that refers to "Seal of the Prophets", you would type:
If you know the chapter you want to search but aren't sure where the verse is located within that chapter, use this Chapter Restrict feature.
You can select the chapter on the "Advanced Search" Page.
You can further increase the accuracy of your searches by combining multiple operators
with parentheses ( ). The "+" operator can be useful here if you want to explicitly require that certain terms or operators be included.
For example, if you wanted to find verses that contained either Mary or Maryam, and also included either Jesus or Isa,
and also have the phrase "People of the Book" you would type:
