Summary of Friday Sermon

delivered by the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

August 4th, 2006

NOTE: Alislam Team takes full responsibility for any errors or miscommunication in this Synopsis of the Friday Sermon

Huzur delivered the Friday Sermon on the traditional post-Jalsa Salana subject of thankfulness and gratefulness. Citing verses 152 & 153 of Surah Al Baqarah (2:152-153) Huzur said the Community is blessed with innumerable extraordinary blessings of Allah every step of the way exhibiting Divine signs of support and help. Huzur said he had outlined some of these blessings in his address of 2nd day of Jalsa, however, today, in accordance with the hadith of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) Huzur wished to thank Allah as well the people who had worked towards the planning & organisation of the Jalsa.

Firstly Huzur expressed his gratitude to the local people of the area as well as the local council. They had, despite being fed negative information about us as well as owing to the general environment of Islamophobia, been cooperative. All those who had attended the Jalsa were appreciative and positive and so Huzur said, we too must express our thankfulness to them.

Next Huzur mentioned the person from whom the Community has purchased this property, Keith, who along with his family had extended great cooperation and support, and had gone a long way towards paving the way in our dealings with the local people. Huzur mentioned his 19 year old daughter carrying out heavy duty work on the site and said his courtesy and friendship is most impressive and prayed that may Allah grant him the light of faith.

Huzur said the peaceful environment of the Jalsa and the efficiency of the Khuddam on traffic duties had amazed the police who were designated to run the operation.

Huzur said all the volunteer workers of the Jalsa deserved thankfulness; may Allah enhance their spirit of giving and develop their spirituality, indeed the whole Ahmadiyya world has prayed for these volunteers. Huzur said this is a special blessing that can be witnessed anywhere in the world where Jalsa Salana is held when men women children work tirelessly and most pleasantly. Huzur said he has received letters with overall positive responses from people regarding the volunteer workers with just the odd exception where things were not up to the mark.

Remarking on the blessing of MTA through which the entire Ahmadiyya world participates in the Jalsa Salana Huzur paid tribute to the MTA workers and said that they have greatly enhanced their skills in running the channel. Huzur made a special mention of the ladies who work behind the scenes at MTA. Huzur requested prayers for the MTA volunteers that may their sincerity and capacity be always enhanced.

Huzur said through gratefulness we gather further blessings of Allah, may our gratitude not be just verbal, may it reflect in our actions. The Holy Qur’an is replete with directives to be grateful with reference to every aspect of life. Huzur said the zenith of the expression of one’s gratefulness to Allah is sincere worship of God and of this the perfect and blessed model is found in the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

Huzur further elucidated the subject with reference to several Ahadith and writings of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace).
In light of these Huzur said the participants as well as the volunteers of Jalsa should be mindful that while they pray they need to foster patience and do it all for the pleasure of Allah. It is indeed for the pleasure of Allah that any negativity of the Jalsa should be forgotten and fraternal ties strengthened. May Allah enable all to act upon the wise sayings of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

Huzur said while being grateful that we are among the ummah of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and are the recipients of the associated blessings, we should also be grateful that we are enabled in this age to be part of the Community of his true and ardent devotee who has unfolded the wisdom of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) to us. Today the world can only attain this wisdom through the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) who indeed initiated the institution of Jalsa Salana for this very reason.

Huzur said we should also pray for the speakers at the Jalsa and above all we must invoke durood and should pledge that while being grateful we will abide by all the sayings of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). Huzur said when we attain this standard, then God, Who honours His promises, will bless us in a tremendous manner.

Hazoor concluded on several prayers; may we be true and sincere worshippers of Allah and thus be the recipients of His blessings.
