Nur - Divine Light

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad(rh)

In his Friday Sermon today Hazoor illustrated the aspect of Nur or Divine Light with reference to verse (57:13) of Surah Al-Hadid. The verse speaks of the tremendous Nur bestowed on the believers in return for their faith and good works. This is the Nur or the light that is promised to surround the believers from different directions that shall illumine them. Hazoor said that this Nur would be granted both abundantly and to a lesser degree to the believers in accordance with their deeds and the status of their faith. Hazoor recounted that regarding the Day of Judgment the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) had said that he would be able to recognise and identify his ummah by means of the Nur on their faces and the Nur encircling them.

Reading from the excerpts of the writings of the Promised Messiah, Hazoor said that earthly love is finite and can cease to be, whereas when one experiences true and sincere love of God one goes through a most amazing spiritual phenomenon the excellence of which belongs to a dimension that worldly people cannot comprehend and decipher. It is this realm in which man is granted the Divine Light. Hazoor said this Nur and this discernment could only be derived through following the Shariah of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him), one who seeks and obtains true guidance from the Shariah is ultimately granted the spiritual excellence that steeps them in the Divine Light.
