Al-Nur - The Divine Light

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad(rh)

Hazoor expounded portions of Surah Al Talaq in his Friday Sermon today in further elucidation of the subject of the Divine attribute of Al-Nur (The Light). The verses speak of a Reminder in the shape of the Holy Quran being sent down by Allah the Exalted and also a Messenger who recited Signs of Allah from the Reminder and enjoined and guided so that the world would come out of darkness and into Nur or Light. This Messenger indeed was the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him).

Hazoor illustrated the matter by various commentaries. Hazoor said the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wrote that when God decreed to send His Messenger the darkness of ignorance and obliviousness covered the earth. This Messenger of God was bestowed with a Nur or Light, the like of which was not seen before, neither in the angels, or the heavenly bodies or precious gems. This singular Light was only bestowed to man, a perfect man at that, who indeed was our beloved master, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him).

Hazoor concluded on a revelation of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) with reference to Nur or Divine Light. A section of the revelation is:

"Say I have received Allah’s Nur (Light), if you are a momin (believer) then do not reject it."
