The Khilafat of the Promised Messiah

Summary of Friday Sermon Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V(aba)

Huzoor(aba) delivered his Friday Sermon from Bad-Kreuznach, Germany on the occasion of Khuddam Ijtema. Huzoor(aba) began by reciting the celebrated verse 56 of Surah Al Nur (24:56) and expounded on the Divine promise of conferment of Khilafat to those who believe and do good works. Huzoor(aba) related a few renowned Ahadith in support of the verse that cite the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) prophesying the establishment of Khilafat in the Latter-Days on the precept of prophet-hood. Huzoor(aba) further read excerpts from the book by Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) 'The Will' in which he clearly foretold of a 'second manifestation' of Divine Power, that would follow after his passing away and which would be everlasting.

Huzoor(aba) went on to explain a brief history of the Ahmadiyya Khilafat. He related the sedition that arose during the time of the first Khalifa tul Masih (may Allah be pleased with him) but was completely subdued by the Divinely appointed Khalifa, who firmly believed in his appointment to be from God. Then during the second Khilafat deceit and hostility raised its ugly head but failed miserably to halt the progress of Ahmadiyyat and Khalifa tul Masih II (may Allah be pleased with him) went on to lead the Community for 52 years; an era of incredible expansion and progress in which the message of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) reached the corners of the earth. Khalifatul Masih II (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the glad tiding to whoever was to follow as the third Khalifa that when he would launch with God's help even if governments were to contend with him, they would be reduced to nothing and indeed that is exactly what eventually happened to the ruling government of Pakistan, who in 1974 declared Ahmadis as non-Muslims. In the period of Khalifa tul Masih III (rahma'ullah) there was great progress of Ahmadiyyat in Africa and despite the most adverse circumstances in Pakistan, the Community was steadfast and resolute.

In the time of the fourth Khilafat the opponents again schemed against the Ahmadiyya Khilafat. However Divine planning overcame their wicked plans and Khalifa tul Masih IV (rahma'ullah) was enabled to leave the now unsafe circumstances in Pakistan in front of the very eyes of the enemy, through the regular channels and arrived in London. After his arrival in Britain, the pace of global progress and advancement was tremendous. MTA was launched and the message that was silenced in one country (Pakistan) was now relayed globally through MTA. His period was that of incredible progress.

Huzoor(aba) said that after the passing away of Khalifatul Masih IV (rahma'ullah) the opponents again wrote off the Community. However, Allah strengthened the faith of men, women and children and the world witnessed the astonishing circumstances surrounding the election of the fifth Khalifa on MTA.

Huzoor(aba) said now Allah has appointed a person on Khilafat that the world perhaps does not wish to give a second glance to, however Allah is not dependent on the world. Huzoor(aba) said that he wore two rings that belonged to the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace); one with the inscription of 'AlaisAllaho bikafin abdahu' (Is Allah not sufficient for His servant) and the other of 'Maula bus' (Lord is sufficient) and was constantly reminded that it is Allah alone Who appoints and guides and teaches His Khalifas. Huzoor(aba) related the extraordinary accomplishment of his African tour in terms of the overwhelming love and affection he experienced from the Community there and said that this love was indeed from Allah and none could get in its way. He assured the congregation that we should be untroubled if a few apostatise and a few are hypocrites. Allah shall continue to incline hundreds of good souls to Ahmadiyyat, He would never abandon us, and today His help and assistance is with us just as it has been with the past Khilafas.

In conclusion Huzoor(aba) said it is our task to supplicate to Allah, to turn to Him and ever submit ourselves on His threshold. If we hold on firmly, none can harm us.
