Death of Jesus (peace be on him) in Holy Quran and his descent in latter days

Faith Matters #56

21 Apr 2011

Q1 00:55 Non-Ahmadi Muslims believe that a look-alike of Jesus(as) was killed and Jesus(as) was sent alive to heavens? They refer to the verses of the Holy Quran 4:158 and 159 “And their saying, ‘We did kill the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah;’ whereas they slew him not, nor crucified him, but he was made to appear to them like one crucified; and those who differ therein are certainly in a state of doubt about it; they have no definite knowledge thereof, but only follow a conjecture; and they did not convert this conjecture into a certainty; On the contrary, Allah exalted him to Himself. And Allah is Mighty, Wise.” Can you please explain how the Ahmadiyya Muslim view of death of Jesus(as) is supported by Holy Quran?

Q2 19:25 In Hadith Abu Huraira(ra) reports that Prophet of God(sa) said I swear by Him who has power over my life the Son of Mary shall descend among ye as a Just Ruler. He will break the Cross and kill the swine and he will put an end to war. This tradition clearly and definitely proclaims descent of that holy Christ who was born to Mary. How can you believe in the presence of this and other similar sayings of the Holy Prophet(sa) that Christ incarnate instead of Jesus son of Mary was promised according to the Hadith?

Q3 36:20 Is death of Jesus(as) a new interpretation against the view of the 1400 years of scholars of Islam?

Q4 49:25 In Hadith Abu Huraira(ra) reports that “Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said there is no prophet between me and him i.e. Jesus (peace be upon him). He will descend to the earth. When you see him recognize him, a man of medium height, redish fair hair wearing two light yellow garments looking as if drops were falling off his head though won’t be wet. He will fight with the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine and abolish Jizya. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the anti-Christ and will live on the earth for 40 years and he will die. The Muslims will pray over him.” How do we interpret the elements in this Hadith?

Q5 1:01:05 Majority of the non-Ahmadi Muslims believe that Holy Prophet(sa) is last prophet with regards to the time of birth and based on time of death Hazrat Jesus(as) will be the last prophet. Is that understanding correct?
