Prof Salam’s death condoled

The President and the members of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences expressed their deep shock at the death of world renowned physicist and Nobel laureate Prof Abdus Salam. Prof Abdus Salam was also the foreign Fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences.

The President and the members of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences said that the death of Prof Abdus Salam had created void in the field of science which would be very difficult to fill up. They expressed their sympathy for the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.

The academy will hold a condolence meeting at 11-30 pm today (Monday) in the auditorium of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission at the death of Prof Abdus Salam.

A condolence meeting was held in the Islamic Institute of Technology (IIT), Boardbazar, Gazipur on Sunday at the demise of the Nobel laureate Prof Abdus Salam. The condolence meeting was presided over by Prof Dr AM Patwari Director General of the Institute. Students, teachers and members of the staff of the Institute attended the meeting, says a Press release.

The speakers discussed and recalled with a great sense of respect the contributions of Prof Abdus Salam in the field of Theoretical Physics for which he was awarded a Nobel Prize. His contributions to advancement of Science and Technology particularly in the third world countries immensely benefited the member countries of the OIC. As the Founder Director of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Triesty, Italy and the Founder President of the third world Academy of Sciences, he trained a large number of Scientists and Engineers in the advanced areas of science and technology which helped in creating awareness in science and technology development in the third world countries. He will ever be remembered for his life-long dedications for science and technology.

The meeting offered Munajat for salvation of the departed soul praying to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal peace in the heaven and expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the members of the bereaved family and Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
