After greeting everyone with "Assalamo-Alaikum wa Rahmatullah" - peace be upon you and the Mercy of Allah - and bearing witness to the absolute Unity of Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger and Servant, and seeking the protection of Allah against Satan, Huzur Aqdas (may Allah strengthen him with His Mighty Help) recited Sura Al-Fatiha, and then said that:
An individual who claims to be a Muslim can only be defined as true Muslim if he has strong faith and understands the reality of the teachings of Islam. Faith is to dedicate oneself solely to God and to act upon His commandments. Islam implies understanding all commandments and while saving oneself from every kind of evil, also be the source of spreading security for others. This is the essence of Faith and Islam. If the Islamic world understood these two principles, we would see such magnificent scenes of lasting peace and the spreading of security as could create Heaven on Earth
In this era, Allah, the exalted sent the Promised Messiah (as) into the world to establish this true faith in the hearts of men and to show the world true examples of such true teachings of Islam and having accepted him and declared our being attached to him, this has become our responsibility. Having true faith & being true role models for Islam, become the Helpers of the Promised Messiah (as) in this blessed work and make the world aware of the true Faith and spread peace and security .
By the Grace of Allah, through the Nizam [the System and Organization], the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is performing this task throughout the world but it is the task of each Ahmadi to be a role model of teachings of Islam so that every one of us can fulfill this responsibility.
Unfortunately the disorder in Muslim countries have tarnished the name of Islam. How we wish that the Muslim countries would understand how much damage their policies of pursuing their own personal interest have caused to Islam & extremism and extremist organizations have come into being and gained strength because these same self-interest pervades the scene everywhere. The peace of entire nations is being shattered. Neither they themselves enjoy peace nor are they the source of peace for others.
The Governments are not upholding principles of justice for their citizens and neither are the citizens discharging the responsibilities they owe to the governments.
The Promised Messiah (as) states, at one place, in this connection that so long as the gevernments and the citizens continue to behave with justice towards each other peace reigns in the land but when any injustice surfaces from the people or from the ruler then peace of the land is disturbed. Unfortunately, this is all that we witness taking place in most Muslim countries. And on top of this we see that the interests who are the enemies of Islam also are engaged in trying to benefit from these conditions.
On the one hand, both blocs are helped to ensure that the situation of disorder goes on worsening while on the other, the activities of the extremists are given undue coverage and the press and media provides limitless coverage to such misdeeds and thus Islam is maligned.
Huzoor (ab) says that in my interviews I have stated that media has played a role in spreading hatred of Islam and in presenting Islam is as a religion of extremism and that the media does not do justice in the manner in which it handles these issues.
Political upheaval is attributed to Islam, the actions of political leaders are so presented and given such immense publicity as to make people think that Islam is a horrible faith.
However, where their own interests are involved sometimes they suppress news also, but only when such bad actions are not from so-called Muslims. This happened in Ireland, for example, a while back, when disorderly elements were perpetrating violence the press decided to not cover the news or they were made to not issue news about such events. As a result such events just caused things to boil over just in that local area and the government was able to have things return to normal after a short period.
It may be true that disorder created by extremists or those who oppose the governments in Muslim nations may be greater, perhaps, but how are such people able to continuously carry out such misdeeds? The weapons that they need to keep these fires burning is being supplied to them from the outside.
Huzur says that I have also told them that when people who are experiencing restlessness get involved in such actions in Muslim countries then intense publicity is given to these events and it is reported with great detail how many people have gone to do such things from here and how many from there etc. and in one way or another Islam is attacked which goes to further increase the restlessness and generates reaction. But when thousands, hundreds of thousands of Muslims discuss peace the media fails to cover them totally or they are not given such coverage as is extended to those who behave negatively.
Jama'at Ahmadiyya is spreading the teachings of love and compassion which are the teachings of Islam above and beyond all and is involved in doing this devotedly all over the world, and as a result hundreds of thousands of people are joining Ahmadiyya and coming under the banner of peace pledging and helping to spread peace & security. Yet, no media covers this news or even looks upon this - even if we tell you about it. Mostly coverage is given only to the few Muslims or Muslim groups who do negative things and just this wrong picture of Islam is painted and presented to the world. As a result of this the non-Muslims think that the only purpose of Islam is extremist and injustice and this is the true picture of Islam. So, as I have said, the non-Muslims continue to increase in their hatred for Islam.
The press, the media, is in any case a business and their profession is to present spicy and tantalizing headlines so they can make a profit but as I have said, hundreds of thousands gather under the banner of peace & security every year and I present the accounts of such people during the Jalsa Salana [Annual Convention] also and I did this this year also on the second day of the proceedings.
I will now present just a few examples of such people who, through Ahmadiyyat, saw the true face of Islam and their hearts were impacted. Among them are Muslims and non-Muslims also and there are many among them who, by seeing the beautiful face of Islam, came into the fold of Ahmadiyya and by pledging allegiance to the Promised Messiah (as) they took the oath to try their level best to serve the creation of Allah and put into practice the true teachings of Islam. They pledged to spread the true teachings of Islam, the teachings which propagate peace & security.
Some also testified that the world is in need of just such teachings and that the media had as if blocked all avenues of them receiving this beautiful message by continuously portraying a wrong picture of Islam. Our efforts, the efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community then came to the rescue and corrected the wrong impressions that they had of Islam.
In Benin a Christian Priest bore testimony, one day, very openly on the occasion of the inauguration of a mosque saying that today is a very wonderful day of my life. Today Muslims and Christians are sitting in one place on the same platform. I have worked previously in Muslim areas also but never witnessed such an occasion where Muslims and Christians should be together. There is no doubt that it is the Ahmadiyya Jama'at that has gathered us all together. I salute Ahmadiyyat with the salutation of peace.
Then many who love justice are also very impressed with the work of the Jama'at. Some of these made their feelings known to you here also during the Jalsa. By the Grace of Allah, the teachings of Islam that Jama'at Ahmadiyya presents and the practical examples of the Ahmadis and their service to humanity and its other efforts are appreciated all around the world and are liked by them and they say how beautiful these teachings are.
Benin (mosque inauguration). Minister of Transport said that the Ahmadiyya Muslim community is not, for us, a new unknown entity. Their humanitarian efforts are apparent and known to all. We who are the representatives of the government investigate all groups and entities and it is our job to keep an eye on their aims and objectives and I can say that the humanitarian services rendered by the Ahmadiyya Jama'at in Benin and their efforts in spreading love and peace are of the foremost stature - they are number one. For these efforts to spread love and peace I present to the Ahmadiyya Jama'at the salutation of peace and it is this love that has drawn me to be present at this occasion. Then he goes on to say that all government institutions are present to help you in your tasks as your motto "love for all" and the teachings that you present have compelled us to do so.
The media plays such a great role in influencing the population that they are not only causing fear in the adults but are also creating fear in the hearts of children and sometimes such unfortunate incidents take place at schools in which non-Muslim children treat Muslim children in such a bad manner that it is most unfortunate and this shows that hatred of Muslims is on the rise.
Meanwhile on the other hand it is wonderful how the effect of all this negative propaganda is reversed by the efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at. I will share a small incident that relates to this.
In Kababir we have a small mosque and our missionary from there writes that a little while back a Jewish teacher was visiting and was introducing the Jama'at to the children in front of our mosque. Very likely that the teacher also knew Arabic. It is written on the entrance of our mosque:
[3:96] whoso enters it, enters peace.
The teacher was reading and translating the Arabic and telling the children that this means that one who enters this abode will enter the abode of peace. The teacher said to the children that these words are said by all Muslims and are found in the Holy Quran and are repeated by all but he said to the children that you should know that the true meaning, the practical meaning of these words you will only be able to find inside the Ahmadi mosques.
Then it is also worth noting how wonderfully Allah, the Exalted, turns the attention of the people towards the Jama'at. There is an area in Burkina Faso a French speaking country, where a mosque was erected and on the occasion of its inauguration a friend said that I was introduced to the Jama'at 10 years ago and at that time I thought that it was just another ordinary Islamic community and so neither I accepted its message nor made mention of it in this area. But now, today, seeing the inauguration of their mosque, I realize that the Muslim Community whom I had ignored thinking that they were just another ordinary Muslim community are in fact the Community who are displaying the true teachings of Islam and serving Islam and today they have also established, erected a mosque in my village. And today it has become clear to me that this Jama'at is indeed true and enjoys the support of Allah, the Exalted.
Then at another place in Benin where the people who live believe in a multiplicity of gods - all who live there associate partners with God. Our missionary went to a village in that area for the propagation of Islam and after giving a speech introducing the Jama'at he said if anyone has a question they should ask. An elder stood up and said that I used to have very bad ideas about Islam and when you came I thought that Boko Haram [which is a terrorist organization creating a lot of problems in Nigeria especially these days] had arrived amongst us and entered here, but now after listening to you all my doubts and worries about Islam have been removed and he said that I am the first to accept the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat. Then after him a total of some 40 individuals accepted Islam Ahmadiyyat in that village and a new Jama'at was established in a land where otherwise the people believe in a multiplicity of gods.
In his village, they have the custom of carrying out elaborate rituals upon a person's death involving extreme expenditure and lengthy times but this elder said that I want to adopt Islamic customs and the custom they have should not be followed in his case. The elder also testified one day that a new spirit was instilled within him after accepting Islam Ahmadiyyat and that when it is time to offer prayer my body tells me that it is time to offer prayer. So such a wonderful change has happened in me that when it is time to pray I get up and offer prayer and my soul and body are afforded peace and contentment in this way. So those among us who are lazy in the offering of salat should remember that the new entrants into Islam Ahmadiyyat have such a wonderful attention to the worship of Allah and offer their prayers with great attention and care. And he says that now he feels a great transformation in himself. Today, as I have said, it is only through the Promised Messiah (as) that the true teachings of Islam can spread in the world. Mention is often made of this in the reports that how miraculously Allah, the Exalted, is making it possible for the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat to reach to the people and how the people are affected by this message. I will mention an incident to illustrate this.
In Guinea in a small place some 500 Kms from the Capitol of the country, a delegation of Ahmadis went for propagation in a village. A cleric arrived and tried to cause disorder. He said you are not allowed to propagate. An individual in the gathering stood up against him. He said the cleric has been there for such a long time but has never taught us such beautiful teachings of Islam. As a result the cleric left and 15 individuals accepted Ahmadiyyat from that gathering.
There is another incident from Guinea. Here when our missionary went to a village some 200 kms distant from the Capitol, an individual said that the Tablighi Jama'at had visited them before and although they also talked God and Prophet but they misbehaved so badly that their misdeeds cannot even be mentioned by us. So if you have come to do the same we want you to leave before we expel you by inflicting harm upon you.
Our people sought permission to speak and their petition was supported by an elder of the community who counseled that we should listen to them as these people seem somewhat different from those others. They were told about the purpose of the coming of the Promised Messiah (as), about the Day of Judgment and that the Holy Prophet had made a prophecy concerning the latter days and the appearance of the Promised Messiah in those days.
The individuals were impacted to such a degree that entire village converted with their Imam & the villages around also converted by the Grace of Allah within the span of a week.
Unfortunately, Muslim leaders have turned away from Islam due to actions of clerics & the non-Muslims have found a way to attack Islam.
I will now present one or two examples of how Jama'at Ahmadiyya brings people, who have become disheartened of Islam, back.
In Africa a Qur'an/Bookstall exhibition was set up at one place. Two individuals came and when they were introduced to Ahmadiyyat and were told that the Messiah (as) and Imam Mahdi had arrived and the he was the Imam of the Age, they immediately said, "but the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is Khatam-un-Nabiyeen, will someone come after him? So they were given a few books about the truth of the Promised Messiah (as) in French and were made aware of the prophecies found in the ahadees of the Holy Prophet about the sorry state in which the Muslims would be in the latter days. They were told about Ahmadiyyat, the True Islam, the True Islam that the Holy Prophet had brought and taught the beautiful face of which today's Muslims have made so ugly and they do not know that Islam is about love, peace and harmony and tranquility.
Upon hearing all this, these two individuals said we are indeed Muslims insofar as our beliefs are concerned but we had become so fed up of the extremism and violence in Islam that we had decided to convert to Christianity but now hearing the description of true Islam from the Ahmadis we realize that Islam is not the religion that these mullahs teach and our wrong notion of Islam have been corrected. The missionary Sahib writes that they thanked us for having saved us from leaving Islam and converting to Christianity.
Even non-Muslims when they hear of the true and beautiful teachings of Islam their hearts are moved to want to spread this message and they begin to help us in this work. In Japan a Buddhist gentleman came to our bookstall and said that his knowledge of Islam was very little and when he was told about the true teachings of Islam and shown what the Holy Quran said about other faiths he liked them very much and not only thanked us for this information but said that this beautiful teaching merits being spread in the entire world and that the misconceptions that people have about Islam should be dispelled. This individual said that if he would be permitted he would like to spend an entire day with us distributing this message among the people and tell the world that Islam is a religion of peace. So he came to our stall one day and, despite being a Buddhist himself, spent the whole day, from 10 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon, proclaiming in a loud voice that Islam is a religion of peace and kept distributing folders among the people.
Similarly, in India in Karnatak a book stall was set up and a non-Muslim came and after seeing our books he said that I have seen other book stalls before but that he had never seen people who were spreading the beautiful message of Islam of peace and tranquility in this manner. He was most impressed and bought a large number of books from our stall.
In Luxembourg a book stall/exhibition was arranged in a city and on this occasion the Mayor of the city also came and was introduced to Jama'at and he saw various books and the local President of the Jama'at gave him a brief introduction of the Jama'at and presented him a book as a gift. Upon hearing all this, the Mayor said that your community is doing great work and that you should spread this beautiful teaching of Islam throughout the world in the quickest time possible.
Let me present now an incident involving a heartbroken man, which our missionary from Holland has written to us about. This concerns a Dutch Muslim named Bilal who was had become very distraught and heartbroken over the sad state of the Muslims. Once he went into the shops with the intention of buying a gift for his child when he saw a book stall of the Jama'at and he stopped there and for the first time he saw the Holy Qur'an published by Jama'at and he talked with a young member of the Jama'at who was present at the stall and took some additional literature with himself to his home.
Later, when he was met again by members of the Jama'at he told them that he very impressed by the Jama'at but that when he had mentioned, with great happiness and joy, the Ahmadiyya Jama'at to his sunni friends, and that he had some literature of the Jama'at also with him, they became furious and got ready even to fight with him and that even his wife who is from Morocco, also behaved in a similar manner and it has become impossible even to talk about Ahmadiyyat in the house
He decided, nevertheless, to study about Ahmadiyyat in secret and Allah, the Exalted, made it possible for me to again meet the young man I had met at the stall and he invited me to participate in the Jalsa Salana of Holland and I spent two days at the Jalsa. During this time also I found a few videos in Dutch language on YouTube which helped me a lot and watching these videos my wife changed her opinion about Ahmadiyyat. This is how Allah, the Exalted, made manifest to me the truth of Ahmadiyyat and I was blessed the opportunity to perform the bai'at and now I participate in the events of the Jama'at and feel that I am advancing spiritually and my previous restlessness has begun to diminish.
Then, the impact that the teachings of the Holy Quran have on people, this too is worth mentioning. A friend who engages regularly in calling people to Allah, writes from Canada that a couple came to our book stall and upon seeing the Holy Quran asked I tell them what are the characteristics and qualities specific to the Holy Qur'an? They were given a brief introduction to the Holy Quran
The husband wanted to buy a copy of Qur'an but the wife, who was a very staunch Christian, said otherwise. The husband said to the Ahmadi at the stall, "convince my wife, tell her something about the Holy Quran that may convince her." He himself wanted to purchase the Quran but also did not want the peace of the house destroyed. So our Ahmadi told them that there is a Sura [Chapter] in the Holy Quran in which there is an account of Jesus (as) and his mother Mary (as). There you will find a discussion and details that you will not find in the Bible. And he opened the Holy Quran to this Sura and placed it in front of them and his wife started reading. After reading for some time she said this is indeed a very interesting book. She said the media, the newspapers have told us that the Qur'an is full of hatred but this book in fact contains material about Jesus and his mother that is full of love and so they bought the Holy Quran.
A few weeks later when they passed by our stall, they conveyed their thanks and said that we have read the Holy Quran and the hatred that is being spread in the media and the newspapers against the Holy Prophet and Islam, if anyone was to read the Holy Quran, or even go through it cursorily, all their misconceptions will be clarified. He says that I tell my friends to just go and read the Holy Quran even those who are Christians, I tell them too.
In Benin at one of our book stalls a teacher came and when he saw and learnt of the beautiful teachings of Islam he said he wanted the Jama'at literature for his students so they can study it also so that our society can become full of peace & security. In order to fill society with love and harmony and peace what is needed in fact are the beautiful teachings of Islam. So he took the Jama'at literature and gave it to his students and afterwards when some of those students came to our stall and saw our literature they told us that they had received it from their teacher.
Right minded Muslims are also impacted by Nizam of Jama'at which is as per teachings of Islam and this becomes the means of them being guided aright.
Our missionary from Burkina Faso says that they went to a place where their tabligh [preaching] discussions went on into late part of the night. A gathering was told that our Jama'at is united on One hand. An individual said he saw a dream where he was told to donate to a community where a proper financial system is present. He offered his donation. Many witnessed his dream come true. Over 200 individuals converted in this village
In Guatemala an individual was contacted during flyer distribution. He accepted Ahmadiyyat. He had only accepted Islam a few months ago. He did not feel at rest by visiting non-Ahmadi mosques. He saw a dream, saw a saintly person who said to follow him. Wherever this person went the path became clear. He was shown image of Promised Messiah (as) & he realized that this was the saintly person from the dream.
In France a person came and said that he was a Muslim only in name. I was double-minded and wanted proofs. He was introduced to the Jama'at and Commentary of Holy Qur'an by Khalifa II (ra). He was left in awe of the great commentary, he watched MTA and realized they were pious & would use proofs. He felt he had discovered a treasure and all his misconceptions had been removed and he converted.
When the world received the message of Islam through Ahmadiyyat, they accept it. In Guatemala, 89 individuals accepted the message of Ahmadiyyat including a Christian priest.
Some students from Jamia [Muslim Missionary Training College] Canada were sent to Guatemala. They spread 100,000 flyers and frequented various towns. A Judge also visited our mission house and said he would spread this message in his city. He came later with a delegation of 7 individuals. By the Grace of Allah the judge and his wife accepted Ahmadiyyat. Guatemala Ahmadis presented events of their acceptance. and this resulted in the 89 bai'ats.
In Switzerland a person upon receiving our flyer said he really liked our flyer. Another said, I liked the topic of this flyer. I wanted someone from Muslims to start this work.
In Zurich, an individual said he likes the Jama'at a lot. A church has decided to celebrate our motto for a week – the 33rd week of the 2015 year. The leaflet that they have prepared for this campaign of theirs makes mention of the Jama'at in a beautiful way. They have said in it that the Ahmadiyya Jama'at has two basic principles. One is: Love for All, Hatred for None, and the second that there is no compulsion in faith and they say that by following these two principles of Jama'at Ahmadiyya peace can be established in the world.
In Switzerland, much is said against Islam but there too there is a wind blowing that results in individuals rising up and praising Islam.
An Orthodox Church Priest said, I am very much impressed with your ways of preaching and that II have decided to enter into Islam and before anything else will have my child embrace Islam Ahmadiyyat. And as he said his son has performed bai'at and entered the fold of Islam Ahmadiyyat.
In Congo a radio director said that I have seen Christians preaching but your ways of preaching are all together different. In all your programs you do not throw mud on others. You simply focus attention on the beauties of Islam and teach people how to become beneficial members of society.
In Nigeria a Muslim said that your entire Jama'at has qualities of peace which join you with the companions of the Holy Prophet (sa).
May Allah accept the prayers of your Khalifa that he does in favor of Islam. Amen
From Benin our missionary writes that at the occasion of a mosque inauguration the King of a village had also come. He said that I will tell everyone to become Ahmadis, these are indeed truthful ones. He recited some poetic verses also in the local language which have the following meaning: A plant sown by man dries up if it is not nourished by water but the tree planted by God does not need this. Ahmadiyyat is a plant sown by God and the construction of the mosque is a manifest proof of this. My house is near this mosque so why should I go to a far off church to worship This plant is a plant of Islam. Why not go the mosque.
This indeed is a plant sown by Allah, the Exalted and in this age, in this epoch, and in accord with the prophecies of the Holy Prophet (sa) the Promised Messiah (as) was sent to take care and water this plant.. and Insha'Allah this tree will continue to flourish and receive water from Allah, the Exalted till the day of Judgment drawing and benefitting from the Holy Prophet.
These were just few events out of thousands which help strengthen our faith. How God is opening hearts all across the world and how He makes the people speak in our favor from all parts of the world.
All are impacted because there is only One Universal Teaching and that is the teaching of Islam. Every just person is compelled to understand that Islam is the only way for world peace.
No just person will say that the action of extremist factions can tarnish the name of Islam. Only someone who is unjust will say things like this. No matter how much propaganda those who oppose Islam carry out against it, it is only Islam that will show the world the ways that lead to God and spread peace and security. If not today then tomorrow the world will have to accept that only Islam can guarantee the peace and security of the world.
May Allah enable us to be a part of this future success and be among those who witness these manifold blessings of God and be those who reform ourselves as per the teachings of Islam. Amen.
All praise is due to Allah. We laud Him, we beseech help from Him and ask His protection; We confide in Him, we trust Him alone and we seek protection against the evils. Whomsoever He guides on the right path, none can misguide him. He is alone and has no partner. We bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O servants of Allah! May Allah be merciful to you. Verily, Allah commands you to act with justice. Forbids evil which pertain to your own selves and evils which affect others. He warns you against being unmindful. Remember Allah; He too will remember you. Call on Him and He will make a response to your call. Verily divine remembrance is the highest virtue.
أَشْھَدُ أَنْ لَّا إِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ وَحْدَہٗ لَا شَرِیکَ لَہٗ وَأَشْھَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُہٗ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ
أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَأَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰہِ مِنَ الشَّیْطٰنِ الرَّجِیْمِ- بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰہِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ۔ اَلرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ۔ مٰلِکِ یَوْمِ الدِّیْنِ۔ اِیَّا کَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِیَّاکَ نَسْتَعِیْنُ۔
اِھْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِیْمَ۔ صِرَاطَ الَّذِیْنَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَیْھِمْ غَیْرِالْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَیْھِمْ وَلَاالضَّآلِّیْنَ۔
A person who claims to be Muslim, the beauty of him being Muslim will only become apparent when he is firm in faith and understands the reality of Islam. Faith means to completely surrender oneself to God Almighty and be one who acts upon His commands, and Islam means that while keeping Allah the Exalted's commands in view, one protects oneself from all evil and also provides means of safety for others.
Thus this is the summary of faith and Islam. If the Muslim world understands this, then such scenes of establishing and spreading lasting peace and security in the world would appear that would make the world a paradise. In this age, to establish this true faith in hearts and to show examples of true Islam, Allah the Exalted sent Hazrat Masih Maud (peace and blessings be upon him) and after being attributed to him, this is our responsibility: that while establishing true faith and becoming the correct example of Islam, we become his helpers and supporters in this work. We tell the world the reality of faith and become those who spread peace. By Allah's grace, the Ahmadiyya Community is doing this work everywhere in the world through its system, but it is also the duty of every Ahmadi that he make himself an example of Islamic teaching so that each of us becomes one who fulfills his responsibility.
Unfortunately, the mischief that is rampant in the Muslim world these days has defamed the name of Islam. If only Muslim countries would understand to what extent their personal interests have harmed Islam, and extremist groups and organizations have also emerged because self-interest is gaining strength at every level. The peace of countries is being destroyed. They are neither at peace themselves nor are they providing safety to others. Neither is the government doing justice with the public, nor is the public fulfilling the rights of the government. Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him, while mentioning the excesses of both at one place, said:
"As long as these two aspects (meaning the duties of the government and the duties of the public) proceed with moderation, there is peace in that country, and when any immoderation appears from the side of the public or from the side of the rulers, then peace is lifted from the country." (Chashmay-e-Ma'rifat, Ruhani Khaza'in, Volume 23, page 33)
Unfortunately, this is what we are seeing in most Muslim countries these days, and then anti-Islam forces are also gaining their interests from this. On one hand, help is given in escalating the disputes of both, while on the other hand, by publicizing the actions of extremist groups, the press and media give excessive coverage, and by giving this coverage, Islam is defamed.
In some interviews that I gave to the media, I also told them one thing: that in spreading hatred against Islam and presenting it as an extremist and terrorist religion, you media people also have a hand. The media does not work with justice. You give a religious name to the political ambitions of some group or country's rulers who call themselves Muslims, and then defame the teaching of Islam. And then you give it so much publicity that you have changed the thoughts of people living in the world about Islam, or for those who do not know Islam, you have created such a concept of Islam in their minds, raised such a specter, that their faces change color just hearing the name of Islam. And where you have your own interests, you also suppress news. For example, some time ago when extremist incidents occurred in Ireland from separatists, the press decided not to give news, or the press was forced not to give news, and as a result, only a little commotion arose at the local level, and the government suppressed it. It is true that in Muslim countries the actions of anti-government groups may be more severe, that the actions of separatist groups or extremist groups in Muslim countries may perhaps be more severe compared to them, but how are they getting the opportunity to carry out these actions continuously, or how are they carrying them out? The fuel in the form of weapons is provided from outside.
I also told them that when people who are distressed and anxious by circumstances join extremist groups, there is excessive propaganda that so many people went from here, so many people went from there, and then Islam is also somehow targeted, which creates more anxiety and a reaction appears. But thousands and lakhs of Muslims who speak of peace—the media does not mention them, or they do not receive the attention that those displaying negative attitudes receive. And above all is the Ahmadiyya Community which spreads the Islamic teaching of love and affection and is engaged with devotion in this work throughout the world, as a result of which, under the flag of peace, hundreds of thousands of people join the Community every year to spread peace and scatter security. Even when we tell you about them, you do not pay so much attention—rather, you pay no attention at all. There is no mention anywhere. And before the world, only the wrong picture of the actions of some Muslims or Muslim groups is presented, a negative picture is presented, as a result of which the non-Muslim population of the world thinks that Islam has only one face and only one purpose, and that is extremism and injustice, and this is the real face of Islam. And then, as I said, hatred of Islam keeps increasing in the world, among non-Muslims.
In any case, since the press is now also a commercial thing—it is their business—and putting spicy news is their work, which they do so that they get financial benefits. But as I said, hundreds of thousands of people gather under the flag of peace and security every year. Their mention also appears in the convention report, which I had made. I had presented some examples on the second day of the convention. So at this time I present examples of a few such people who saw the real face of Islam through the Ahmadiyya Community and it affected their hearts. These include non-Muslims and also Muslims, and then there are many such people who, seeing the beautiful picture of Islam, accepted Islam and, coming into the pledge of allegiance of Hazrat Masih Maud (peace and blessings be upon him) made this covenant that we will try our utmost to fulfill the rights of Allah the Exalted and His servants and to manifest the correct Islamic teaching, and we will spread forward this message which is the beautiful message of Islam, which is the message of peace and security. And some also expressed that the world needs this beautiful teaching of Islam, and the media had locked our thoughts by giving a negative impression about Islam. These efforts of the Ahmadiyya Community then removed their wrong thoughts. A Christian pastor openly expressed this at one place. In Benin there is a small community called Chierieman—there was the opening of a mosque there, so the pastor of the Apostolic Church said that today is a strange day of my life. Today Muslims and Christians are sitting together. I have worked in Muslim areas before, but I have never seen such a function where Muslims and Christians are together. There is no doubt that the Ahmadiyya Community has brought us all together. I salute Ahmadiyyat. Then just politicians also—these works of the Community have a great effect on them. During the convention days here also, some may have expressed themselves before you. Everywhere in the world now, by Allah's grace, the Islamic teaching that the Ahmadiyya Community presents and the work it is doing, the practical picture—it is appreciated. People like the services of the Community and express what beautiful teaching it is.
In the village Ganzougo in Benin, there was the opening of a mosque. A guest, who is the Minister of Transport there, also attended. He says that the Ahmadiyya Community is no new community for us, and their humanitarian services are hidden from no one. We government representatives investigate every organization and group, and it is our job to keep a close eye on their manifesto, objectives, and mission. And the humanitarian services of Ahmadiyyat in Benin and the effort for peace and love that the Ahmadiyya Community has made—it is number one in the country of Benin. I salute the services of Ahmadiyyat in peace and love efforts, and it is this love that has drawn me here. Then he says that from the chief of this place to the entire government machinery is present for your service, because your slogan "Love for all, hatred for none" and the Islamic teaching you present—it is such a thing that we are compelled to support you. Then on one hand the role of the media is so much that even children are frightened of Islam, not to mention adults. In some schools such incidents occur that sometimes non-Muslim children are behaving with Muslim children in such a way that it appears that hatred is increasing. On the other hand, how Allah the Exalted removes their effect through the Ahmadiyya Community—I present a small incident of this. In Kababir we have our mosque. There is a community there. The missionary there writes that a few days ago, in front of our mosque, a Jewish teacher was introducing the Community to his school children. That teacher apparently also knew Arabic. On our mosque door is written مَنۡ دَخَلَہٗ کَانَ اٰمِنًا.'and whoso enters it, enters peace.' That teacher was explaining to the children by giving a literal translation of these words, that the meaning of this sentence is that whoever enters it will remain in peace. He said these words are uttered by all Muslims, they read them, it is in the Holy Quran. He tells the children that but you should know that the practical example of this sentence will be seen only in the Ahmadis' mosque.
Then how Allah the Exalted turns people's attention toward the Community. Burkina Faso is a country in Africa, a French region. A mosque was built at a place called Kalambago there. On the occasion of the opening of the mosque, a friend said that my introduction to the Ahmadiyya Community was ten years ago, but I considered the Ahmadiyya Community as an ordinary organization of Muslims—that is why I neither accepted Ahmadiyyat nor mentioned it in my area. But today, seeing the mosque of the Ahmadiyya Community in my village, I have learned that the very community which I had ignored considering it an ordinary organization of Muslims is serving Islam truly, and today this community has also built a mosque in my village. Today it has become clear to me that this community is certainly true and has Allah's support.
Then Mougnoun is a place in Benin where polytheists reside. All are polytheists. Our missionaries went there to preach. After introducing the Community, they said if anyone has any questions in mind, please ask. Upon this an elder said that I held bad thoughts about Islam. Seeing you, I thought that Boko Haram had entered among us. (Boko Haram is an extremist, terrorist organization that is currently particularly strong in Nigeria.) But when I heard your speech, all my apprehensions about Islam were removed, and I am the first person among these polytheists to accept Islam and Ahmadiyyat. Then after this, forty people from this village entered Islam Ahmadiyyat, and in this place, in this village of polytheists, a new community was established. Then they have some traditions. When a person dies, great arrangements are made for him. Until full arrangements are made, until lakhs of francs are not spent, he is not buried. He is buried with great arrangements. There is a big function, and even if it takes a month, he is kept in the mortuary. But when they became Ahmadi, this elder announced that when I die, don't bury me like this but rather my burial should be according to the Muslims' method. These customs and traditions should now end from now on—so the immediate change that occurred in them was that they immediately gave up customs and traditions. Then one day he told our teacher that after becoming Ahmadi, a new spirit has come into my body. Wherever I am, whether I am working on my farm, my spirit awakens my conscience and says that prayer time has come. So this punctuality for prayer has also been created in these people, and he says that in this way I stand up for prayer and my spirit gets peace and my body gets comfort. He says now I have started to feel great change within myself. So even among us, those who are lazy in prayer should remember that the newcomers also have an inclination toward worship and pray with great attention. Today, as I said, the real teaching of Islam can reach the world only through Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him. This is often mentioned in reports—how Allah the Exalted is conveying the message of Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him, to the world and how people are affected. I present one incident. This is from the country of Guinea Conakry—there is a city called Farana there which is about five hundred kilometers from their capital. When our people reached there for preaching, one of our Ahmadi friends there, Abu Bakr Sahib, arranged preaching sessions. The missionary says we conveyed the message of Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him, to those people. The series of preaching was still continuing when a maulvi reached there to spread mischief. For a while he listened to things quietly. After that, very angrily he said you have no permission to preach here and I will have you arrested right now through the police. The youth there stood up and said to that maulvi very angrily that you have been here for so long, you never told us these things that we are hearing today, and these very things are the words of Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him, which are affecting our hearts. This is the manner of beautifully presenting the teaching of Islam which is wounding our hearts and we are getting peace from it. You have been misguiding us until now. Therefore, leave here immediately. So that maulvi left from there very ashamed, and as a result of the gathering that was held there, fifteen people joined the Community.
Then another incident is also from Guinea Conakry. When they went to preach in a town about two hundred kilometers from the capital, a person said that before you also people from the Tablighi Jamaat came here, but what were their behaviors? They came to preach. They also talked about Allah and the Prophet, but then they committed such obscenities in this village that we cannot describe. You people have also come to do the same. Therefore it is better that you leave from here before we beat you and drive you out. They said let us say something. An elder there also explained to the people that these people seem somewhat different to me from those people, just listen to their words. So he says we described the purpose of the advent of Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him, and told them about his advent, and also told them that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had prophesied that these will be the signs of the latter days and in it the Promised Messiah will appear. In any case, people were extraordinarily affected by this. They left a local missionary there who continued preaching, and he says by Allah's grace, in one week not only did that village enter Ahmadiyyat along with its imam and mosque, but four or five nearby villages have also taken pledge and entered Ahmadiyyat, meaning true Islam, and further contacts are continuing. And he says we are continuously receiving messages that people are ready with anxiety to enter true Islam. Unfortunately, as I also gave the example, Muslim scholars and leaders have also played a great role in distancing from Islam. And for this very reason, everywhere non-Muslims also have the courage to defame Islam. How the Ahmadiyya Community tries to bring back spoiled Muslims or those Muslims in whose minds doubts and suspicions about Islam had arisen—I present one or two examples of this. In Africa, a bookstall was set up at one place. There was an exhibition of the Holy Quran. Porto-Novo is a city of Benin—two Muslim youth came from there. When they were introduced to Ahmadiyyat and told that the Imam Mahdi, peace be upon him, has come and he is the imam of this age, they immediately said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Seal of the Prophets. Will anyone come even after him, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him? Upon this they were given the book "Truth of the Promised Messiah," to read in French, and about the wretched condition of Muslims in the latter days, the traditions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were presented. The second advent of the Messiah was mentioned. They were told about Ahmadiyyat, meaning true Islam—what Islam is. That is, the true Islam that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) brought. In which there is love, there is peace, and there is the teaching of reconciliation. Today Muslims have distorted its form. Upon this, those two youths said that we are certainly Muslims in terms of belief, but we had become so fed up with the barbarism and terrorism of Muslims that we were about to become Christians. But now hearing the words of the Ahmadiyya Community, we are reassured that Islam is not as these mullah people present it. The missionary writes that they thanked us that you saved us from becoming Christians, saved us from leaving Islam.
In the hearts of non-Muslims also, seeing true Islam, the desire to spread this message arises—they too start supporting us. The missionary of Japan writes that a Buddhist Japanese came to our stall and said that their information about Islam is very limited. When he was introduced to Islam and shown examples of Islamic teaching about other religions from verses of the Holy Quran, he not only thanked us but said that this beautiful teaching deserves to be told to the world and misconceptions about Islam should be removed. He said if you permit me, I also want to distribute the message of peace with you people for one day. Our missionary writes that accordingly, as promised, one day he came to our stall and from ten in the morning till four in the evening, despite being Buddhist, he kept announcing in a loud voice that Islam is a religion of peace, and kept distributing folders among people.
Similarly, in India, in Karnataka state, at Gudak, a bookstall was set up. A non-Muslim friend came to this bookstall and later said that we have seen many bookstalls before this also, but I have not seen until today such people who give the message of peace and tranquility and convey the beautiful teaching of Islam to people. He was very impressed and bought many books from our bookstall and took them.
In a city of Luxembourg, a bookstall was organized by the Community on the occasion of an exhibition. The city's mayor also came to the stand and saw various books. After that the president of Luxembourg Community gave him a brief introduction of the Community. He also gave him a book as a gift. Upon this the mayor said that your community is doing very good work. You should spread this beautiful picture of Islam to the world as soon as possible. I present an incident of a heartbroken new Muslim. Amir Sahib of Holland wrote that Bilal Sahib is a Dutch Muslim. He had become very heartbroken by the wretched condition of Muslims. Once he went to the market intending to buy a gift for his child and stopped at a bookstall on the way. This was the bookstall of the Ahmadiyya Community. He saw the Holy Quran published by the Community for the first time. He also talked with the Ahmadi volunteer present at the stall and took some literature of the Community home with him. When contact was made with him again after some time, he said that I am very impressed by the teachings of the Ahmadiyya Community. When I happily mentioned the Community to my Sunni Muslim friends and told them that I also have literature of the Ahmadiyya Community, they became very angry and were ready to fight. He says my wife, who is from Morocco, also became very angry. Even mentioning Ahmadiyyat at home became impossible. In any case, he says I decided that I will secretly research about Ahmadiyyat. So Allah the Exalted arranged my meeting again with that young man whom I had met at the bookstall. He invited me to attend the Annual Convention in Holland. I remained at the convention for two days. During this I also got to see some videos in Dutch on YouTube, which benefited me greatly—rather, my wife also changed her opinion about Ahmadiyyat after watching those videos. In this way Allah the Exalted manifested to me the truth of Ahmadiyyat and I got the opportunity to take pledge. Now I attend Community programs and feel spiritual progress. The anxiety that was there before is also ending.
Then how the teaching of the Holy Quran affects others. One of our preachers from Canada writes that we set up a preaching bookstall. An English Canadian husband and wife came to our stall and seeing the Holy Quran said, tell me what are the characteristics of this book? He says I gave them a brief introduction of the Holy Quran. After this, that gentleman started to buy the Holy Quran. But the wife was a very staunch Christian. She kept insisting on this and kept telling her husband not to buy the Holy Quran. In any case, that gentleman said, tell my wife something about the Holy Quran so that she agrees to take the Holy Quran. He himself wanted to buy it, but there was also compulsion—lest there be a fight at home. Our Ahmadi says I told them that there is a chapter in the Holy Quran in which Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, and his mother Mary, peace be upon her, are mentioned. About them there is such detail that you will not find in the Bible—and he took out that place and put it before them. There was a translation. His wife started reading. After reading for a while, she said this is indeed a very interesting book. We had read in the press, meaning the media had told us, newspapers had told us, that the Quran is filled with hatred, but in this Jesus, peace be upon him, and his mother are mentioned with great love. So they bought the Holy Quran. A few weeks later when they passed by our stall again, while thanking us they said we have read the Holy Quran. The hatred being spread in the media about Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—if anyone reads the Holy Quran or even casts a cursory glance over it, all their misconceptions are removed. He says I also tell many of my Christian friends to read the Holy Quran. In Benin, on the occasion of a bookstall, a government school teacher came and after reading the Community's teaching of love and peace, said: “give me literature for my students too”. I also want them to study this literature and the society to be filled with peace and love. The society needs this thing to be filled with peace and love, which is the literature of the Ahmadiyya Community. So he took the literature and went and gave it to his students, and later some students from the school came and said that we have already received this literature from the teacher.
Pious-natured Muslims are also affected by seeing the system of the Ahmadiyya Community, which is precisely the Islamic system. And this very thing then becomes the cause of guidance for them. The missionary of Burkina Faso says there is a place called Silaboubo—he went there to preach. The people gave a very good reception. All the men and women gathered to hear the preaching, and questions and answers continued until two in the morning. At the end, he says, I told them that our Community is united on one hand and we also have a system of donations which has taken on a regular global form. The Community has a treasury which is under the Caliph of the time. Donations go into this very treasury and are spent from it. He says after morning prayer, a friend Zakariya Sahib came and said that I had a dream some time ago that I am giving a donation and a voice comes that says give donation to such an Islamic group that has one treasury. I have been searching for this Islamic group for quite some time, but last night when the missionary talked about the Community's financial system, I found the interpretation of those words which I had heard in the dream. So he immediately took out ten thousand francs CFA and paid them. We also had a receipt book with us. He says we immediately took out the receipt book and cut a receipt. When people heard about this dream and also saw that there is actually a receipt book for donations on which the entire record is kept, they were greatly impressed. By Allah's grace, after this, 282 people in this village took pledge, and all these people are properly included in the Community's donation system. Guatemala is a country in South America. During the distribution of flyers, contact was made with a youth Yusuf. He came to the mission house. He accepted Ahmadiyyat. He had accepted Islam some time ago. He says that going to a non-Community mosque, he did not get peace of heart. People have malice and grudges against each other. One day when I prayed and slept, I saw an elder in a dream who possessed a very spiritual appearance. There is a path on which there is only ash. This elder starts walking in front of me and signals to follow me. As this elder walks, the ashy path is becoming clean. He says in the dream only this much is understood, that remember this lesson till tomorrow. The next day he saw you people distributing the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat among people. When I read it, my heart felt that this is the real Islam, and obtaining all the information on the website, I have now come here for the purpose of formally taking pledge. When shown the picture of Hazrat Aqdas Masih Maud, peace be upon him, he said that this was the very elder who was showing him the path in the dream, and by Allah's grace this thing has made him even stronger in faith.
Amir Sahib of France writes that a newly pledged friend Kamal Sahib told me that I had been a traditional Muslim for several years and was not satisfied with the interpretations of the Holy Quran made by the scholars. I was living life in two different extremes. On one side was the thing in which I had faith, but on the other side my mind rejected some things and asked for proof. Due to this I was in a strange conflict. But suddenly a candle appeared in my dark spiritual life which took me out of the darkness of ignorance and showed me a new path toward light. He says one day I was discussing a religious topic with my brother-in-law when he mentioned the Ahmadiyya Community and told me to read the commentary of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II, may Allah be pleased with him. When I read the commentary, I was amazed that such a simple and transparent commentary—why did no one else write it in fourteen hundred years? After this my brother-in-law told me about MTA. He gave the internet link on which I read many books of Hazrat Aqdas Masih Maud, peace be upon him, and watched several programs. Whatever people conducted these programs, I found them sincere and reasoning in their speech. I felt as if I had found some treasure and my soul got freedom. All my doubts were removed and I learned the true Islam, so I took pledge.
When the message of Islam reaches different parts of the world through the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community—which is the message of love and peace and security—Pious-natured people accept it. I just narrated the incident from France, so there is also an incident from South America about how people accepted Islam. The missionary-in-charge of Guatemala writes that as a result of the distribution of leaflets, 91 people got the opportunity to accept Islam. Among those accepting Ahmadiyyat is a pastor who remained associated with the Catholic Church for 33 years and with the Protestant sect for five years.
Similarly there is Domingo Sahib who performs duties as a judge in the municipality. Students who were graduates of Jamia Canada were sent there for one month, and they distributed more than about one hundred thousand leaflets and pamphlets in Guatemala, and went to different areas. This judge also received a folder. So he came to the mission house and talked with the missionary-in-charge for two or three hours about Islam. He obtained information and was very impressed, and also took two or three hundred folders with him and said I will distribute them in my area. Then after some time he came with a delegation of seven people from his area and then stayed at the mission house for about ten days. Comparison of Islam and Christianity, issues of trinity and atonement came under discussion. Also, informing about the beauty and superiority of Islamic teachings, the Community was introduced. By Allah's grace, Domingo Sahib and his wife filled out the pledge form and accepted Ahmadiyyat, and returning to their area started preaching Islam and Ahmadiyyat. Here in their area they also arranged a preaching program in July. He says when I reached, a meeting was arranged in the school hall. People from surrounding villages had been invited. Islamic teaching was described there in great detail. Ahmadiyyat was preached. Ahmadis of Guatemala narrated their incidents of accepting Ahmadiyyat. Questions and answers took place. He says this gathering continued for seven hours. Before the conclusion of the gathering, all those present announced accepting Islam, whose number was 89. Men and women were all included in them.
Here in Europe, from Switzerland, apparently a gentleman wrote that I liked your flyer very much. The work you are doing is equivalent to changing the autumn season into spring. Sooner or later, spring will certainly come. These are the impressions of others. Similarly a Swiss resident said that the content of the leaflet that was put in my letter box—I liked it very much. I congratulate you. It has been my wish for a long time that if only there were someone among Muslims also who would run a peace campaign like this. You people have fulfilled my wish.
Then the missionary of Switzerland writes that in Zurich in a church there is Jakob Sahib. He is a great admirer of the Community's services and likes the Community. This church has taken the Community's motto "Love for all, hatred for none" and has decided to observe the 33rd week of the year 2015 in this reference. In the informational leaflet they published for this, they mentioned the Ahmadiyya Community in a very good manner and wrote that the Ahmadiyya Community has two basic principles. One is this phrase that says love for all, hatred for none, and second is this phrase that there is no compulsion in religion. He says that by following these two principles of the Ahmadiyya Community, peace can be established.
Much is said against Islam in Switzerland. There too, by Allah's grace, the atmosphere is such that Allah the Exalted Himself is raising people.
How non-Muslims express gratitude for Islamic teaching. The missionary from Congo Kinshasa writes that listening to our radio programs, a pastor of the Orthodox Church said that I am very impressed by your manner of preaching and Islamic teachings. I have decided that I will enter Islam and first of all will have my child enter Islam Ahmadiyyat. So his son has already taken pledge in the local Community and entered Islam Ahmadiyyat.
From Bandundu, Congo, a missionary writes that the director of Radio Bandundu FM said about the programs being broadcast on the Ahmadiyya Community's radio that Christian pastors also preach on our radio, but the Ahmadiyya Community's method of preaching is the most unique. In your programs, no mud is slung at anyone. You people discuss the merits of Islamic teaching and teach to make a person a useful part of society. A teacher from Nigeria who is Muslim says that in your entire Community there are excellent qualities of peaceful Islam which join you with the Companions of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. May Allah the Exalted accept your Caliph's prayers in favor of Islam.
Then our missionary from Benin writes that on the occasion of the opening of a mosque, the King of Dasso was also present there. He says I will tell everyone to become Ahmadi. These are the true people. And a poet of the Goun language, which is a local language there, on this occasion also recited a few verses whose meaning is that if the plant planted by man does not get water, it burns, but the plant planted by God does not need it. Ahmadiyyat is a plant planted by God and the construction of this mosque is its living proof. And my house is near this mosque, so why should I go to some church far away for worship? Why not go to the mosque? So this is the plant of Islam. It is the plant planted by Allah the Exalted, and in this age, according to the prophecies of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) He has sent Hazrat Masih Maud, peace be upon him, for its watering, and until the Day of Judgment, receiving blessings from the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) through his blessings, Allah the Exalted will continue to provide it water—spiritually also, whatever need of water there is, Allah the Exalted has provided it according to His promise and will continue to do so in the future, God willing, and always this plant will remain, God willing, green and flourishing.
To run the world according to Allah the Exalted's pleasure and to scatter peace and love—from thousands of incidents, these are the few incidents I have presented which keep coming to the fore and strengthen our faith. How Allah the Exalted opens people's chests. How He makes others speak in our favor. Some are residents of Africa, some of Arabia. Some of Europe, some of South America. But the effect on all is the same. Because there is only one universal teaching and that is the teaching of Islam. Every just person, whether he accepts Islam immediately or not, is compelled to say that Islam alone guarantees world peace. No just person considers the actions of selfish Muslim leaders or vested-interest evil-loving groups as part of Islamic teaching. Only he will say who has no justice. Anti-Islam forces may do as much negative propaganda about Islam as they want, but Islam alone has to show the world the paths to Allah the Exalted's nearness and provide peace and security. If not today then tomorrow, the world will have to admit that Islam alone guarantees world peace and security.
