All praise belongs to Allah; Jalsa Salana UK took place last week and with Divine grace those who attended it and those who saw it on MTA around the world benefited from its blessings. The feedback received by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih is most positive. People felt that there was a lot of improvement in the overall arrangements and the speeches were of a higher scholarly and spiritual standard. As traditional, Huzoor based today’s sermon, the first after Jalsa Salana, on presenting an overview of the event in light of Divine blessings. He also thanked all the volunteer workers and mentioned a few deficiencies.
With the grace of Allah, the atmosphere of Jalsa Salana affects each pious-natured soul. Some non-Muslims and non-Ahmadis only come to the Jalsa to find out how real are the blessings and beneficences of Jalsa as expressed to them by their Ahmadi friends. After experiencing Jalsa majority of them acknowledge that they find their experience to be greater than envisaged and some are so impressed and affected that they end up taking Bai’at. This year two Russian guests took Bai’at after observing the Jalsa atmosphere. Although guests from Guatemala, Chile and Costa Rica from South America did not take Bai’at during Jalsa, but it left a great mark on them and later on, during mulaqat with Huzoor they expressed regret at not taking Bai’at earlier and acknowledged they had recognised the truth and wished to take Bai’at. Thus, six people, four men and two women took Bai’at yesterday after Zuhr Prayer.
Among those who took Bai’at this Jalsa was a friend from Guatemala whose origin is Jordanian. He said that he observed the practices of unity, love and affection at Jalsa which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) wished for. He felt Jalsa organisation was excellent and was most impressed by the discipline, sense of sincerity and unity. He said Jalsa was an illustration of the Hadith in which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said that believers are like one body and any pain in one part of the body is felt by the rest of the body! He prayed that may Allah reward all Jalsa workers.
A friend from Costa Rica said that he was most impressed by the excellent arrangements put in place by the Jama’at and how each worker performed his duty. He said he was delighted to have discussions with guests from other countries and felt his faith had enhanced. He said the advice in the addresses of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih was meant for the entire Muslim world without any distinction between Sunni or Shia Muslims!
A lady from Costa Rica said that attending Jalsa was a unique experience and the mutual love of people of different ethnicities left a great mark on her. She felt the spiritual atmosphere of international Bai’at was redolent of the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). These were some of the attendees from Guatemala, Chile and Costa Rica, who, having seen the international Bai’at at Jalsa, were completely convinced yesterday and took Bai’at.
The Ahmadiyya Jama’at disseminates the beautiful message of Islam and each visitor can see its display of love and affection which compels them to be part of the true Islamic model or at least their objections against Islam are negated through it. This is a proof of the fact that Islamic teaching has never been outdated and Divine help and succour has never left Jama’at Ahmadiyya.
Once a family told Huzoor that in Pakistan one of their elderly ladies was against the Jama’at. They lived in an extended family situation but she never came to Jalsa. Once she had to go to Rabwah and the family also took her to Jalsa. There she saw the spiritual atmosphere, the organisation of the Langar Khana and listened to the speeches and was so impressed that she took Bai’at. This was during the time of the second Khilafat. Indeed, during each Khilafat people have attended Jalsa and taken positive influence from it. This is a sign of the truthfulness of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) and is also a sign that Divine help and succour is with Khilafat e Ahmadiyya. These matters do not come about through human effort. The atmosphere of Jalsa is a silent source of Tabligh in which each Ahmadi worker is a silent missionary. Guests from outside was most impressed to see the silent, seamless flow of work by all volunteers, without panicking, without harsh speech; men, women and children all are engrossed in serving others. Jalsa acts as a great source of enhancing the faith of Ahmadis who attend Jalsa for the first time while it recharges the faith of long-term Ahmadis. Some guests honestly express that they look out for faults and this year even such people have said in general that the level of cheerfulness displayed by workers has been greater than before.
Next Huzoor present comments of some distinguished Jalsa guests.
The Speaker from Kinshasa, Congo said that it was his first visit to Jalsa and he saw the entire proceedings including international Bai’at. He felt everyone at Jalsa interacted with each other as old friends. He said they once tried to hold an event on provincial level at home where due to disorganisation 26 people died on the first day. He was amazed at the organisation of Jalsa where no one even spoke in a raised tone and small children served drinking water most lovingly. Children usually like to have everything for themselves but the Jama’at has thus trained its young children that they put the comfort of others first. He wrote that after attending Jalsa he went to his embassy and told the ambassador that he had attended many a conference but had never seen one with the excellent organisation he saw at Jalsa.
The Foreign Minister of Benin said that he did not have the words to express praise for Jalsa organisation. He saw extraordinary fervour to serve among children and adults including the elderly who had no concern for themselves and only wanted to make Jalsa successful. He said he has seen the world and has experienced arrangements made by a super powers like the USA but has never seen excellent arrangements like he saw at Jalsa. He said the secret behind the strength of the Jama’at was their Khalifa and also said that today only Jama’at Ahmadiyya is working for peace and brotherhood!
Defence Minister of Uganda said that it was not possible to express what he experienced at Jalsa. He saw the exhibition and also had mulaqat with Huzoor when he told Huzoor that only an army could bring about the discipline he saw at Jalsa Huzoor remarked that even his [Ugandan] army could not organise such discipline, he agreed!
A guest from Greece who does Greek translation for the Jama’at sent an email saying that it was not a small matter to see such a large number of people gathered in such a peaceful way for the sake of love and peace and to pray. He said Jama’at Ahmadiyya does not simply give hand-outs to the underprivileged people in fact it helps them stand on their own feet through various projects and is most humble in spite of all its services. He said he experienced no complaint from anyone during Jalsa and saw all the volunteers helping out cheerfully. They all worked extremely hard at serving the guests and all of them wanted the guests to feel completely at home at the Jamia where they were staying.
A television director was among the guests from Nigeria. He said that all the arrangements at Jalsa were of international standard and the speeches were excellent. The Bai’at ceremony left a deep impression on him. He said he felt very emotional in the presence of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih because he could see how all Ahmadis submitted before their Khalifa. He said he had never before witnessed such love and affection as shown by all those present at Jalsa and he said on return home he will tell others that this what all Muslims need to adopt.
A lady newspaper assistant editor from Nigeria said that having attended the Jalsa she realised that every member of the Jama’at had sentiments of love and affection for each other and everyone greeted each other with a smile and was ever ready to help each other. She said she has been a journalist for eighteen years and could say without hesitation that only Jama’at Ahmadiyya was a true Islamic model. Men and women both greeted guests with love and friendliness and she had never seen this at any other Islamic event.
The mayor of a city in Belgium said that he was made aware of the true teachings of Islam after attending the Jalsa and he saw with his own eyes how this teaching was put in practice by Ahmadis. He could see mutual love and affection in their eyes. Before coming to Jalsa he had only seen the Jama’at on a local level. However, after Jalsa he had seen how it operated on an international level and felt that it practiced what it preached. He felt the arrangements at Jalsa were excellent and he was taking back sentiments of love and affection. He had visited the stalls of Humanity First and Engineers Association and was amazed how the Jama’at was serving humanity. He felt his appreciation of the Jama’at was enhanced after the Jalsa.
A vice mayor of a city in Belgium said that he experienced Islam at Jalsa contrary to how the media depicts it. He felt it was a great virtue to spread the true message of Islam and unite all humanity. He said he had observed how the Jama’at strove to serve humanity in his city, however, after coming to Jalsa he now realises that that the Jama’at strove to serve humanity throughout the world. He felt there was no other faith which was serving as the Jama’at was. He was very impressed by the diligence of the duty-holders at Jalsa and felt that if people back home worked just as hard perhaps his country would not have experienced the economic downturn that it faces.
Wife of a vice mayor of a city in Belgium said that she experienced unique love and affection when she visited the ladies Jalsa Gah. There was an amazing atmosphere when Hazrat Khalifatul Masih came to the ladies Jalsa. Thousands of women listened to his address in silence. She said she found the answers in Huzoor’s address to the questions she had in mind regarding women and Islamic teachings. She said in the beginning she felt a little nervous in the ladies Jalsa Gah but once Huzoor’s address started her feelings were allayed.
A friend from Belgium who is under Tabligh said that he has known about Ahmadiyyat for a long time but it was his first experience of attending Jalsa. He said he saw everything in the three Jalsa days and would say without hesitation that Ahmadiyyat was the true model of Islam. He said he saw people weeping in prostration and this had left a deep mark on him.
A guest from Malta who is a social worker said that what he liked best was young child serving drinking water. He also liked the instruction of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih to comply with whatever instruction the workers were given even if they came from young people. He said he was impressed to note that in a Jalsa booklet advice was given not to waste food and only take what could be easily eaten. He was please the Jama’at paid attention to minute matters.
A journalist from Malta who is also a television host and has known the Jama’at for three years interviewed Huzoor. He said it was evident to him that the Jama’at has made great progress in 125 years and was now established in 206 countries. He felt this could not be possible without Divine held. Referring to the discipline at Jalsa he said wherever there is discipline, there is God. Huzoor remarked this person is a Christian. He said that on his return to Malta he would prepare an hour long documentary for his TV station based on Huzoor’s interview and the Jama’at.
An academic who teaches philosophy in a college in Malta said that he would write a detailed article on the proceedings of Jalsa so that others could also benefit from the advice given at Jalsa regarding religious and worldly well-being.
Ahmadi as well as non-Ahmadi guests from French Guiana also came to Jalsa. Among them was a Christian professor who said that when he was invited to Jalsa he did not understand why these people wanted to invite him. However, he now understood that the significance of Jalsa was not limited to the Jama’at; in fact it was a significant event for the world. He said he derived amazing peace when listening to the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and has obtained audio recordings of the same.
Many journalists came to Jalsa this year, from here and from abroad. A Hindu lady journalist said that her mother had warned her not to go to an event of Muslims as they were dangerous people who may kill her and no one would find out. She said after experiencing Jalsa she plans to tell her mother that Ahmadis were more peaceful than Hindus and felt that her mother should also experience the beautiful teachings given at Jalsa.
A lady journalist from Belize, where Jama’at was established this year, came to Jalsa. She is also a TV anchor. She said that Jalsa experience proved to be more pleasant than she had expected. She had reflected on our motto of ‘Love for all hatred for none’ and felt that indeed, she experienced love all around Jalsa. She said she would always remember what the Jama’at gave to her and she thanked all those who gave duty at Jalsa. She said she was born to a very strict Sunni Muslim family and in reaction to their harsh ways she abandoned Islamic teachings but still believed in God. Her experience of Jalsa was unique where she felt no Ahmadi girl or women was restricted in any way and went about their business freely, roamed in the bazaar and met each other lovingly. She said she felt had she been born in an Ahmadi home she would not have reacted as rebelliously as she did with her family. She said she had made many friends at Jalsa.
Huzoor said Ahmadis should be grateful to Allah that they were born to Ahmadi families or had accepted Ahmadiyyat and are thus protected from the elements that make others rebellious. Huzoor said some Ahmadi girls also react badly at times, they should remember that others are also impressed by our ways, so they should not suffer from any complex. Teaching of Islam is in accordance with human nature.
A lady journalist guest said that she was a religious person who shunned alcohol and tobacco and went to Church regularly. However, she did not ever experience the respect she felt at Jalsa at her Church; she said she felt very special at Jalsa.
A non-Ahmadi friend from Kazakhstan thanked Hazrat Khalifatul Masih and the Jama’at from the bottom of his heart for inviting him to Jalsa. He said as a religious scholar who had researched different faiths for half a century he found our motto Love for all hatred for none most attractive. This was something other Islamic movements had not reflected over. In the current times of turmoil when extremism is at its height and religious intolerance is widespread it was only the Ahmadiyya Jama’at which was working on mankind-friendly projects to once again illuminate the world with the teachings which have been inherent in the religion of Islam from the beginning. It is true that these teachings are close to the hearts of tens of millions as indeed they are close to the Kazakh people. This is the fear the so-called religious leaders have and this is why they are trying their utmost to harm the Ahmadiyya Jama’at.
Huzoor said prayers should be made for the safety of Kazakh Ahmadis.
Many distinguished guests came to Jalsa from Sierra Leone. One of them said that Jalsa was broadcast Live on Sierra Leone television and was also viewed by the country’s President. After watching speech by Tommy Kallon he rang one of his delegates present at Jalsa and sent congratulations for the Jalsa.
Minister of Legal Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago came to Jalsa and said that the Jama’at’s love for Hazrat Khalifatul Masih could not be described in words. He said the Jalsa organisation was tremendous and one could sense that God’s hand was behind the Jama’at. He said he was greatly moved by attending the Jalsa.
A group of guests also came from Croatia including five Catholic ladies and four ladies from a university. Head of a Muslim Centre in Zagreb also came along with three Catholic men. The head of the Muslim/Arabic Centre said that he had attended countless events in many different countries but had never seen the sincerity with which young children served drinking water at Jalsa. He was also very impressed by the service of the students of Jamia and other youngster volunteers. A lady member of the delegation said she wondered when the volunteers took rest, adding she had never seen such devoted volunteers before! A student member of the delegation said that she was most satisfied with the answers Huzoor gave to her questions and felt that if the Muslim world sought the guidance of Huzoor their problems would be solved in a peaceful manner. Another university student also expressed satisfaction over the answer Huzoor gave to her question.
Director of the Ministry of Culture of Haiti was also a Jalsa guest. He said he was delighted to attend Jalsa and having seen the organisation of Jalsa he felt that Jama’at was an exemplary community for the rest of the world. He said he was amazed to see everyone work at Jalsa and admired them all, both young and old.
Next Huzoor presented comments of some new comers to the Jama’at.
A lady from Mexico said she learnt many things by coming to Jalsa. Not only was she made cognisant of the reality of life but she also realised the reasons behind the current state of the Muslim world. She said she used to feel that the sect she belonged to was fine but after attending Jalsa she realised that it was here that the blessed model of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was followed. She used to pray to be included in the best of people and be guided by rightful Khilafat. She felt God had listened to her prayer by enabling her to join Jama’at Ahmadiyya.
A new Ahmadi from Belize said that three days of Jalsa made him realise the extensive scope of Jama’at. He felt the organisation of Jalsa was carried out in a captivating style. He met with people from over eighty countries belonging to different backgrounds. He appreciated that numerous volunteers worked hard to make Jalsa a success.
Sadr Lajna of Marshall Islands, who is a new Ahmadi, said that attending Jalsa was a huge blessing for her. She observed everyone had sentiments of love for each other which was an embodiment of the motto of the Jama’at, Love for all hatred for none. She had amazing feelings during the addresses of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih when each word brought tears to her eyes. She also found the experience of the Bai’at ceremony most wonderful.
An African American Lajna related one of her dreams to Huzoor. In the dream she is offering Salat in a beautiful and very large mosque and does not recognise all the people in there and each time she feels that she is in a different country. After attending Jalsa where people from all over world offer Salat together she felt she had seen the fulfilment of her dream.
A new Ahmadi from Mexico said that he felt people from different countries of the world were filled with love for the Khalifa of the time. He said Jama’at is an exemplary community and was an embodiment of the teachings of Islam.
An Imam from Mexico who had come into Ahmadiyyat with seventy of his followers said that he felt numerous blessings of God coming down during Jalsa. Huzoor’s speeches not only increased his knowledge but also gave him inner peace. Every attendee of Jalsa as if bore witness that Islam is a religion of peace.
A new Ahmadi from Panama said that he was most impressed by the organisation of Jalsa and the love and unity expressed by everyone. He said he felt a revolutionary change had come about in his life.
An Ahmadi from French Guiana who took Bai’at in 2008 came to Jalsa for the first time. He said that he was a born Muslim who was the first Ahmadi in French Guiana. Now that he had attended Jalsa, he truly realised the significance of Ahmadiyyat and of the Khalifa of the time.
A friend from Belgium said that when he first went to an Ahmadi mosque he experienced love and affection which he also felt at Jalsa. He took Bai’at during the international Bai’at and said that it was not possible for him to express what he felt during Bai’at. By meeting Hazrat Khalifatul Masih he experienced first-hand that indeed a Khalifa is appointed by God.
A friend from the Philippines who took Bai’at last year came to Jalsa. He said he had found what he was looking for by attending Jalsa. God willing he now aims to spend the rest of his life as an Ahmadi Muslim. He felt the loving enthusiasm of the volunteer workers at Jalsa was commendable. He saw them work from morning till night and this wondrous experience won his heart over.
A friend from Mali who took Bai’at Jalsa said that the feelings he experienced during Jalsa were feelings he had never before felt in his life. He felt even if our opponents tried their level best they could not organise even a fraction of an event like Jalsa Salana. He added that even a great power like the UNO could not manage to organise an event like Jalsa.
A friend from Kazakhstan said that he had been to Jalsa many times before but it was his first experience to stay at the Jamia. He commended the arrangement to accommodate people from different countries in one place as it promotes to forge strong connections. Most of all this facilitates offering congregational Salat in great numbers. He said this was quite important for him as back home they are not able to offer congregational Salat in large numbers.
With the grace of Allah this year the central press team and the UK press team both worked very well and for the first time Jalsa coverage was good through which the message of Ahmadiyyat, true Islam reached people. Through the contacts of the central press team press and media had also come from abroad and they all made positive comments. The message of Ahmadiyyat reached about 13 million people in the UK. Articles are still being written and news disseminated and it is estimated that the message has also reached around 12 to 13 million people outside the UK.
With regards press and media Huzoor said people of different faith or no faith come to Jalsa and are impressed with it. Anyhow they have their own dress code and their own traditions. Some ladies do wear modest clothing when they come over but do not wear scarf although some do take scarf. However, even if they do not take scarf we cannot bind them to do so. Some of our men have hard-line attitude and resort to rigidity. A BBC lady correspondent came to Jalsa whose head was not covered at some point. A man came from behind and put her scarf on her head. The correspondent is known to an Ahmadi and was wearing modest clothing and had earlier also had her head covered although at that time it was not covered. She laughed off what the man had done but did say that another person in her place may have been offended or could have had negative impression. Huzoor said men should remember that they have not been given powers to police others and should restrain themselves. It is not for them to cover the heads of women from outside. Men are commanded to restrain their eyes; they should fulfil their own obligations. There is not even any commandment to forcibly cover the heads of Muslim women let alone non-Muslim women. It is men like these who have hard-line ideas, there may be the odd one among us also, who bring Islam in disrepute. Huzoor said no one should think that they are the caretakers of reforming the world! Similarly a man told an Ahmadi who accompanied another lady journalist to tell her that it was necessary to cover the head in our surroundings and that she should cover her head. Huzoor said he would say to such men that they should take care of their own families first, the world will InshaAllah be reformed of its own accord. It is acts like these that turn people away from Islam. Huzoor said he had earlier recounted the story of a lady journalist who had turned away from Islamic practice due to the harsh stance of her father. When she saw the freedom [of Ahmadi women] at Jalsa she wished that she had been born in an Ahmadi home. Women should reform women especially in Europe where there is a furore that Muslim men are harsh and unfair and cruel to Muslim. Such actions by men spoil matters. These things should be handled by women with gentleness. Lajna does its work and in any way it does not matter because [when visiting our events] lady journalists dress modestly in keeping with their standards.
With the grace of Allah MTA plays a large role in broadcasting Jalsa programmes as it did this year. While Ahmadis have expressed delight at this, others have also given good comments. Response of non-Ahmadi Arabs has been very good. They have said that this indeed is true Islam and have also said that this is also the true Khilafat which the Muslim Ummah is in need of!
MTA broadcasts were shown live on the national channels of Ghana and Sierra Leone and on a private channel in Nigeria and were very well-received. A comment from Ghana said that they had heard a lot about the Jama’at and were astonished to see MTA because their Imam had told them many falsehoods about the Jama’at! A non-Ahmadi lady decided to become an Ahmadi, an Ahmadi wrote that they had seen the international Bai’at ceremony for the first time and felt very proud to be an Ahmadi. Another person wrote that after seeing Jalsa proceedings he had understood the philosophy of the Jama’at and had decided to become an Ahmadi. Many people had sent in comments that they would soon join the Jama’at.
A Christian friend wrote from Sierra Leone that watching the live proceeding was very blessed, another person wrote that they invited their neighbour over to watch Jalsa proceedings, another comment said what a magnificent Jalsa it was and many said that Jalsa broadcast had been very well-received by non-Ahmadis.
In Nigeria perhaps one million people saw Jalsa proceedings on television.
About 330,000 people watched Jalsa through live streaming; this is in addition to viewing on MTA.
We should remember that positive feedback should inspire us to move onwards and upwards rather than make us rest on our laurels. Progressive communities are ever looking to improve themselves. We are aware and we should always be mindful that there can also be weaknesses. Weak points can occur in an organisation of this large scale, it is not that critical. However, they should be noted down and the management should remedy them for the next time. These weaknesses do not only occur because of the workers but can also occur because of some obstinate attendees. There should be arrangement for this as well and they should be trained/tutored before coming to Jalsa.
Huzoor has been notified that a woman sat in the main marquee with children. When a worker noticed this she informed the woman that mothers and children had a separate marquee. In response the woman said she was not aware of this but now that she was made aware she would leave. Later the worker realised that this woman guest was not an Ahmadi, so she apologised to her and said that if her children were quiet she could carry on sitting in the main marquee. Meanwhile an Ahmadi woman sitting close by started arguing with the worker and said if she did not have a problem why did the worker had a problem? Thankfully the worker acted sensibly and did not let the matter escalate and went away quietly. Then the woman asked is it in Hadith that sitting there [in the main marquee] was not allowed! Such obstinate women need to change their attitude. Mostly women behave in this manner although sometimes men do too! Thankfully people sitting in the area did not notice all this. Huzoor said as far as the question of Hadith is concerned; it is in Hadith as well as the Holy Qur’an that no matter from whom an instruction comes, it should be complied with. Compliance of the Ameer is enjoined and the Holy Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said that even an Ameer whose head is the size of raisin is appointed over you, listen to him. Such rebellious attitudes should not be taken on small matters; whether something is in Hadith or not. Indeed Hadith says obey and comply and this is very essential for everyone who calls themselves an Ahmadi.
Huzoor instructed workers to note down for the next time that if someone shows such attitude they should inform their superior who should then cancel the AIMs card of the individual disallowing them to attend Jalsa. Huzoor said Jama’at Ahmadiyya does not need such rebellious attitudes. Other than this there was also a complaint from women’s side that at times the toilets were not so clean.
People have praised the food and the roti this time. May Allah enable us to further improve on it! Another complaint was received from the women’s side that an elderly person was not served food because she was late. No matter who comes for food at whatever hour, especially the ailing, children and the elderly, and there is food, then they should be served. In fact arrangements should be in place to serve such people at any time and it should be explained to them that they are being given special service. They should also be politely told that they have come for food late for some reason and should be given the food serving hours. However, the stance should be compassionate and loving. This year they experimented by installing toilets in tents on a large scale and this was appreciated.
The Russian guests complained about transport facilities. They stayed at the Jamia but the transport arrangements were not adequate as a result they arrived late at Jalsa and missed part of the early proceedings. Likewise return to Jamia was also late which meant that they missed offering Tahajjud. Huzoor said the transport systems needs to be improved and this should be noted down in the Red Book.
With the grace of Allah, on the whole the Jalsa went very well and the guests were happy. May the good influences of Jalsa become part of our lives! Huzoor said just as the guest had thanked the workers he too thanked the men and women workers. May Allah reward them and accept their service and enable them to serve in a better way next time! May their service be not simply outwardly but may the spirit of Islamic teachings be instilled in them and may Allah make the attendees and the workers both true Ahmadis!

Alhamdolillah! By the grace of Allah, the Jalsa Salana UK was held last week peacefully, blessing us with its benedictions. By the grace of Allah, those who attended and those sitting around the world witnessed all the blessings and benefited from them. Every person who meets and countless people who write all say and write that by the grace of Allah, this time the system was much improved in every matter. The speeches of the speakers were also, by the grace of Allah, prepared in a very excellent manner. They were scholarly and spiritual. In the sermon following the Jalsa, I mentioned the blessings descended during the Jalsa, the favors of Allah, and His support. I also relay the impressions of the guests who came. Likewise, I also thank the workers. Some administrative matters in which there were shortcomings are also mentioned. So, in any case, today I will say something in this regard.
The atmosphere of the Jalsa, by the grace of Allah, is such an atmosphere that has a good effect on every soul of pure nature. Some non-Ahmadis and non-Muslims attend the Jalsa solely to see how true the things their Ahmadi acquaintances tell them about the blessings of the Jalsa are, and what the reality is. And when these non-Ahmadi friends come and attend the Jalsa here, they then often say that what we observed was much more than what we were told about the Jalsa. And on some, the effect is so great that they take Bai'at. This time too, two guests from Russia took Bai'at after seeing the atmosphere of the Jalsa. Similarly, there were some people from the American countries of Guatemala, Chile, and Costa Rica who did not take Bai'at during the international Bai'at at the Jalsa, but were extremely moved. They listened to the entire Jalsa, then met with me and said that we are sorry that we could not take Bai'at. Our hearts are entirely inclined towards it. We have recognized and understood the reality, the truth. We have seen the favors of Allah, how they descend upon the Jama'at, and we too now want to take Bai'at. Please accept our Bai'at. So yesterday, six such individuals, four men and two women, took Bai'at after the Zuhr prayer.
I will mention the impressions of some who attended, but I first mention the impressions of those who took Bai'at — those who had not taken Bai'at there but did so yesterday. Among them is a friend, Mr. Sami Qadir, who lives in Guatemala. He belongs to Jordan. He is there for business. He says that I saw at this Jalsa the practical form of mutual brotherhood and love that our Master, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), wished to create in us. The excellent arrangements of Jalsa Salana, the discipline, the sincerity and loyalty of the friends, and the spirit of mutual sympathy and brotherhood deeply moved me. And I saw the practical image of that blessed Hadith that the example of mutual love and brotherhood among the believers is like that of one body — when one part of it suffers pain, the entire body feels it. Then he says, " May Allah grant the workers of the Jalsa the best reward.
Similarly, Mr. Haider Sabilia was part of the delegation from Costa Rica. He says that the excellent organization of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya impressed me greatly. The way every member of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya carries out the duty assigned to him with sincerity impressed me beyond measure. I was very pleased to meet, converse with, and exchange views with people who came from various countries of the world. Through participation in the Jalsa, my attention towards true Islam has further increased, and in this regard, my sincerity and faith have grown. And the addresses, advice, and guidance of the Khalifa of the time are for all Muslims without distinction between Shia and Sunni. Then a lady from Costa Rica, Diana Naima, says: Participation in the Jalsa was a unique experience. The mutual love and affection of people from various countries, nations, and races who came from different parts of the world have had a deep impact on my heart. This atmosphere reminded me of the era of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I am certain that the Jama'at Ahmadiyya will progress, and through it, the loving message of Islam will continue to spread. She also took Bai'at yesterday.
Similarly, those who took Bai'at yesterday were from Guatemala, Chile, and Costa Rica — as I mentioned, four men and women. After seeing the entire spectacle (of the Jalsa) and witnessing the international Bai'at, when they were fully convinced, they then took Bai'at.
So the Jama'at Ahmadiyya, which conveys the beautiful message of Islam, and without throwing dirt on others, without criticizing anyone, tries to gather everyone upon one unity. And then this spectacle of love and affection that every visitor sees — the conduct amongst themselves and the conduct with others that every visitor observes — compels everyone, upon seeing this example of true Islam, to become a part of it. Or at the very least, the objections that are raised against Islam are dispelled from those who see this here. Allah the Almighty has shown us these spectacles in every era, and is showing them now too, which is proof that neither has the teaching of Islam ever become outdated, nor has Allah the Almighty ever lifted His hand of support from the Jama'at Ahmadiyya.
Once, a family in Pakistan told me that they had an elderly woman who was opposed to the Jama'at, but the family system there is such that they all lived together. She would never come to the Jalsa. Once a need arose, she had to go to Rabwah with them, and then, under some pretext, her relatives also took her to the Jalsa. They showed her the entire system. She used to say that the people of Rabwah cast a spell, which is why one should not go there. In any case, after seeing the atmosphere of the Jalsa, listening to the speeches, and seeing the system of the Langar Khanas (community kitchens), she took Bai'at. This is an incident from the time of the second Khilafat, which a family told me. Then, in every era of Khilafat, we have seen this same thing — that by the grace of Allah, whenever someone came to the Jalsa, they took with them a good impression, or a good impression impressed them, and they took Bai'at and joined this community. So this is a sign — this is proof of the truthfulness of the Promised Messiah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). This is a sign of Allah the Almighty's support with Khilafat. The things we see cannot be produced by human efforts. As I mentioned in the previous sermon, the atmosphere of the Jalsa is performing a silent Tabligh (preaching), and every Ahmadi and every worker who participates in it is a silent missionary. All non-Ahmadi guests, seeing this system in which all work flows quietly in one stream — no panic, no chaos, no harshness or harsh words seen anywhere, but rather smiling faces — from young children to elderly men and women, all are filled with the spirit of service. They are engaged in their work. Seeing these things has a great effect of the Jama'at on others. And those Ahmadis who are participating in the Jalsa for the first time also find their faith greatly enhanced by this atmosphere. In fact, even those who participate every time are recharged anew and leave from here with progress and an increase in their faith and certainty. Some are also there who, with good intentions, and some habitually, point out that they have to find faults. And generally, even such critics this time expressed that the standard of cheerfulness of the workers was better than before.
I will also present the impressions of the guests of the Jalsa. This time, from Congo Kinshasa, the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Bandundu, Boniface Ntwa Boshie Wa, attended Jalsa Salana for the first time. He observed the entire proceedings of the Jalsa for all three days. He sat in the Jalsa Gah and listened. He would also remain in the Jalsa Gah during prayers. He also witnessed the international Bai'at. He says that here everyone is meeting as if they have known each other for years. Everyone is offering greetings. This is true love. This is the true religion and faith. He says that once we had to organize a program at the provincial level, in which 26 people died on the very first day due to mismanagement. Consequently, the program had to be canceled. But I am amazed that at the Jalsa, in a gathering of thousands of people, there was not even the slightest disorder. There was no pushing, shoving, or commotion. Forget anyone dying — no one even spoke in a raised voice. He was very emotional seeing young children performing duties. He says that these little children present water or some other food item with such love and affection that, despite not needing it, one's heart does not allow refusing these children. Young children generally have the habit of wanting to take things for themselves, but the Jama'at has trained these children in such a way that from this age, they have become accustomed to sacrificing their feelings for others, and from a very young age, they have begun to prefer the comfort and peace of others over their own comfort. Surely these children, when they grow up, will not be a cause of trouble for others, but rather will be those who serve others. And after the Jalsa, when they went to their embassy, he expressed to his Ambassador that I have attended many large national and international conferences, but the excellence of organization that I saw here at the Jalsa, I have not seen anywhere else.
Then the Minister of Interior of Benin, Francis Houessou, expressing his thoughts, said: I do not have words with which to praise the arrangements of the Jalsa. It was a very excellent and well-organized Jalsa. I saw an extraordinary spirit of voluntary service to others in the people of the Jama'at. This spirit has become the nourishment of every Ahmadi's soul. This is the very reason why today the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is on the path of progress. He says that I saw children, adults, and even the elderly — they had no concern about their own food and drink. If they had any concern, it was only about one thing — that our Jalsa be successful. I have never seen people working with such effort to achieve their goals. He says that I have seen the world. I have also seen the arrangements of a superpower like America, but I have not seen even great powers organizing in such an orderly and peaceful manner. Here, even very young children perform voluntary duties and follow with great enthusiasm the instructions they receive. Then he says, the secret of the Jama'at's global strength is that the Jama'at has a Khalifa. I openly express that today it is only the Jama'at Ahmadiyya that is working for the establishment of peace in the world. Today on earth, only the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is the one that teaches brotherhood, advises patience, and is the standard-bearer for the establishment of peace.
The Defense Minister of Uganda, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, attended the Jalsa. He says that the spectacle of the Jalsa's atmosphere is beyond description. He regularly observed the proceedings of the Jalsa for two days and also viewed the exhibition. He also met with me. After seeing everything, he said that this much discipline can only be produced by the army. Upon this, I had said to him that even your army cannot produce it. So he says, you have spoken very correctly. There is no doubt about it. This kind of discipline cannot be produced by any army in the world.
Among the guests who came from Greece were Antigoni and Panagiotis — whatever their names are. Of these, Mr. Panagiotis is being given the opportunity to translate Jama'at literature into Greek. After returning from the Jalsa, he sent an email in which he says that to see thousands of people in such a peaceful gathering, who had assembled to give each other love and affection and to pray, is no ordinary matter. To see such a large number of people united for the help and service of others is no ordinary matter. The Jama'at Ahmadiyya does not help others by considering them beggars, but rather undertakes such projects through which poor people can stand on their own feet. A community that is helping others to such an extent, yet despite this expresses humility and modesty, is no ordinary thing. He says that during the Jalsa, we did not hear anyone complain about anything, nor did we see any face without a smile, nor did we see anyone speak in a raised voice. Every volunteer was putting in their full effort, and despite hard work, there were smiles on their faces. They were staying at Jamia, and about the workers there, he says that everyone's effort was that the guests should consider Jamia as their own home. In the delegation from Nigeria, there was Mr. Ishaq, a television director. He says that all the arrangements of Jalsa Salana were of international standard. From receiving us at the airport to the conclusion of the Jalsa, all arrangements were excellent in every aspect. The speeches of the Jalsa were very excellent. I witnessed the spectacle of the international Bai'at for the first time. It was a very emotional spectacle. This spectacle left a deep impression on my heart. During the sessions of Jalsa Salana when Khalifatul Masih was present, this spectacle was very soul-stirring and emotional, to the extent that I could not control my emotions, and tears flowed from my eyes — how thousands of people were sitting bowing their heads in submission before their Imam. I have never seen such a spectacle in my life. The love and affection that the friends of the Jama'at gave during and after this Jalsa, I will, upon returning, say that the entire Muslim Ummah should adopt this excellent example.
From Nigeria, the Assistant Editor of the National Mirror newspaper, Sakina Lawal, came. She says that upon coming to Jalsa Salana UK, I realized that every member of the Jama'at has a relationship of love and affection with one another. Everyone meets with a smile and is always ready to help one another. I have been working as a journalist for eighteen years. I openly express, and feel proud in saying, that out of all Muslim organizations, the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is the only organization that practices Islamic teachings and is an example for other Muslims. The arrangements of Jalsa Salana were complete from every aspect and in every respect. Then she says that every man and woman, old and young, met with much love and friendliness. I have not seen this in any Islamic program.
So these effects on non-Ahmadis are not just to be heard, but we should always maintain this state in our own conditions.
Then the Mayor of a Belgian city, Kasterlee, who is also a member of the Flemish Parliament, attended. He says that by attending this Jalsa, I gained awareness about the true teachings of Islam. Moreover, I saw with my own eyes how people practice this teaching. The mutual love and affection of the people deeply impressed me. I had seen the people of the Jama'at only at the local level, but by attending the Jalsa, I have also seen the people of the Jama'at at the international level, and I have observed that the Jama'at also practices what it preaches. There is no example of such excellent arrangements as those of this Jalsa anywhere else. I am taking love and affection back with me from here. You people, have shown me the true teachings of Islam. I also went to the stalls of Humanity First and the Engineers Association. Going there, I learned how much the Jama'at is serving humanity. All these things were astonishing to me. The respect for the Jama'at in my heart has increased even more than before.
The Vice Mayor and Councilor of the Belgian city of Turnhout attended the Jalsa. He says that what we had seen about Islam in the media was the complete opposite by attending the Jalsa. The picture of Islam that you have presented is the true Islam. There is no doubt that the teaching of Islam is very beautiful. He says, by presenting the true teachings of Islam, you wish to gather all of humanity under one flag — this is certainly a very great virtue. I had seen in my city that the Jama'at strives to serve humanity, but by attending the Jalsa, I learned that the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is striving to serve humanity throughout the entire world. In my view, at this time, there is no religion in the world serving humanity to this extent and spreading the teachings of love, affection, and peace in the world. I also saw those performing duties at the Jalsa. I was very impressed by the fact that those performing duties consider themselves fortunate to serve the guests. He says, the thought came to me that if the people in our country also worked with this same spirit, our country would not have faced the financial difficulties that we are going through these days. Then the wife of the Vice Mayor of the Belgian city of Turnhout says: I also went to the Jalsa of the women. The love and affection I received there is something I have not seen the example of in my entire life. When Khalifatul Masih came to the women's Jalsa Gah, there was a strange atmosphere. Such a large number of women were present there, but there was silence everywhere. Then, when Khalifatul Masih delivered the address, thousands of women present listened to the address in complete silence. The questions that were in my mind regarding Islamic teachings about women were answered by Khalifatul Masih's address. Then she says that when I initially went to the women's Jalsa Gah, there was a kind of fear in my heart, but when I started listening to Khalifatul Masih's address, all my fear was dispelled.
There was a friend from Belgium under the contact of Tabligh, Mr. Chauboum Ahmad. He says that I had been familiar with Ahmadiyyat for a long time, and this is the first time I attended the Jalsa of the Ahmadis. The three days I spent at the Jalsa and everything I saw — I openly say that Ahmadiyyat is the true picture of Islam. I have seen people here weeping in prostration. It has had a strong effect.
A social worker from Malta, Mr. Kenneth Cremona, also came, who works in caring for disabled persons. He says that what I liked most was that even small children were taking an enthusiastic part in the work of the Jama'at and were performing the task of serving water. Then he said that I really liked that Khalifatul Masih, while giving instructions related to the Jalsa, said: Obey, and accept every order, even if this order or instruction comes from a small child. He said that I saw a booklet containing instructions related to the Jalsa, in which it was written: Take only as much food as is needed. Do not waste by putting in extra food. Reading this gave me great pleasure — how this Jama'at takes care of small details. And people then note these things as well. A journalist from Malta, Mr. Ivan Bartolo, came. He also hosts a program on TV. He has had a connection with the Jama'at for three years. He also took my interview. He had a desire to take an interview. He says that it has become as clear as daylight to me that in 125 years the Jama'at has progressed to such an extent that it has been established in 206 countries of the world. This is certainly not possible without divine support and help. Then he says that everything at the Jalsa was organized and proceeded according to a regular order, and where there is order and arrangement, there is God. These are Christians, and these are the impressions of Christians. He took my interview. After this, he said that he will go to his country and make a one-hour documentary about the Jama'at for his TV.
Apart from this, Mr. Michael Grech from Malta attended the Jalsa. He teaches philosophy at college. He also writes articles in newspapers and magazines. He said that I want to write a comprehensive, detailed article on the proceedings and speeches of Jalsa Salana so that other people can also benefit from it and benefit from the golden advice and principles regarding religious and worldly welfare expressed at this Jalsa. From French Guiana, too, Ahmadi and non-Ahmadi guests came to the Jalsa. Among these guests was a non-Ahmadi guest, Mr. Thierry Atticot, who is a professor of history and a Christian by belief. He says when I was given the invitation to attend the Jalsa, I could not understand why these people were inviting me. Some videos were also shown to me. I was also briefed, but still I could not gauge the importance of the Jalsa. But now, having come to the Jalsa myself, I have understood what status this Jalsa has in the Jama'at — rather, how important this Jalsa is for the entire world. The world needs such Jalsas in which the slogan is 'Love for All, Hatred for None'. He says that the recitation of the Holy Quran, which took place at the beginning of the proceedings of the Jalsa, also gave my soul a strange pleasure that I cannot express in words. Now I have also obtained the audio of these recitations, and I am certain that they will be a source of peace for me.
Then this time, quite a few journalists from various press, both from here and from outside countries, also came. One Hindu journalist said that my mother had forbidden me from going to the function of Muslims. They are very dangerous people. They will kill you, and no one will even know where you went. Anyway, she says, but I did not listen to my mother. Now, after the experience I have had here, I will go to my mother and tell her that the Ahmadis are more peaceful than us, and their words are beautiful, and their teaching is beautiful — that you should also go and see. She says, thank goodness I was not deprived of this Jalsa.
Then, Belize, where the Jama'at has been established this time. A journalist from there, Maryam Abdul, came. She is also a well-known anchor of Krem TV in Belize. Expressing her feelings regarding her participation in the Jalsa, she said that the experience of attending the Jalsa Salana of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya was more pleasant than my expectations. All the people on duty conducted themselves with great love and respect. Then she says that the Jama'at's motto, 'Love for All, Hatred for None,' has left a very good impression on me. I reflected deeply on this motto, and in the past few days, I saw nothing but love from every direction. This Jama'at has given me a lot. I am grateful for it and will always remember it. And she says that besides this, I would also like to thank all those who performed duties. She informed that she was born in a strict Sunni family. She says my father was a very strict Muslim, due to which I had a reaction, and as I grew up, I stopped practicing Islamic injunctions, because the veil, the scarf, and many such things, which are practiced — whether wrongly or rightly — among other Muslims, there was such strictness in them that I drifted away from the teachings of Islam. When I grew up, I took off the scarf, hijab, and everything and threw it away. But she says, I still have faith in God Almighty. But by coming here to Jalsa Salana, I have had a unique experience. Here, I did not see any woman bound and shackled. Every girl, every woman was free. I saw women and girls. They were moving about freely. They were reciting poems. They were going to the bazaar. They were meeting one another with love. This has produced the thought in me that if I had been born in an Ahmadi Muslim home, my path would not have been rebellious. I have made many friends here. So Ahmadis are fortunate. They should be grateful to Allah the Almighty that Allah the Almighty caused them to be born in Ahmadi homes, and granted some the ability to become Ahmadi, and protected them from things that produce a rebellious path. There are also some Ahmadi girls who have a reaction — they too, should remember that non-Ahmadis come and are impressed by us, so there is no need to be afflicted by any kind of complex. The beautiful teaching of Islam is such a teaching for everyone that nature demands, and one should try to practice it.
Then a journalist said that I have never received as much respect, even in my own church, as I have received here. She says I regularly attend church and am a very religious woman. I have never drunk alcohol nor smoked. I consider all these to be evils. But she says, whatever it is, I felt very special here.
A non-Ahmadi friend from Kazakhstan, Mr. Artymief, says that I am grateful from the depths of my heart to Khalifatul Masih and the administration of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya for inviting me to this Jalsa and giving me the opportunity to say something. The very first invitation to attend Jalsa Salana England was given to me fifteen years ago, and my research about the Jama'at Ahmadiyya has continued from the time when Ahmadiyyat began in Kazakhstan. He says, as a religious scholar who has spent half a century researching various religions, this is my experience.
Then he says that what I find most attractive is your Jama'at's motto, 'Love for All, Hatred for None'. This concept was a revolution that occurred at the end of the twentieth century, and was the beginning of a bright and luminous chapter of the religion of Islam, to which other Islamic movements have not paid attention to this day. He says, in this era, we are all witnesses to the disturbing events and conditions occurring in the world, where extremism is at its peak, and religious tolerance and forbearance are becoming extinct. At such a time, it is only the Jama'at Ahmadiyya that, through its humanitarian works, is trying to once again illuminate this world with that light which the religion of Islam has had within itself from the very beginning. He says that today the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is the most progressive and most rapidly spreading Jama'at in the Muslim world. And this is also logically correct because the teachings of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya are at this time close to the hearts of millions of people. These teachings are also close to the hearts of the Kazakh nation and are more comprehensive. And this very thing has put the so-called Islamic clerics there in fear, whose entire effort is to harm Islam Ahmadiyyat. We should pray for them too. May Allah the Almighty keep the Ahmadis in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in His protection.
In the delegation that came from Sierra Leone was Dr. Usman Fofa, who is the General Secretary of the Inter-Religious Council of Sierra Leone. Then, Professor Karim, who is the head of the Science Department at the University and the General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Muslim Congress. Then, Mr. Embo Bangura, who is the Chairman of the ruling party in the country's capital, Freetown, was included. This Mr. Bangura, by the grace of Allah, has also taken Bai'at. During the meeting, he said that the proceedings of Jalsa Salana were broadcast live by Sierra Leone TV, and the President of Sierra Leone also watched the proceedings of the Jalsa. When Mr. Tommy Kalon finished his speech, the President called the members of his delegation in the Jalsa Gah by phone to congratulate them on the Jalsa.
This year, the Minister of Legal Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Prakash Ramadhar, also attended. He says that the love that the members of the community had for Khalifatul Masih cannot be expressed in words. As far as the Jalsa is concerned, everything was magnificent. The sincerity and spirit of those working there bore witness to the fact that this Jama'at is not a Jama'at created by any human, but rather, behind this Jama'at is the hand of God Almighty. He says, by attending the Jalsa, I have been shaken from within. Pray for me that Allah the Almighty grant me the ability to live my life with honesty, humility, and sincerity.
A delegation of nine people from Croatia attended the Jalsa. Of these, five were Catholic women, of whom four were university students, and one woman is the head of the museum department. Apart from this, there were four men. Of these, one was the head of the Muslim Arabic Center in Zagreb, and the remaining three were Catholic. The Director of the Arabic Center, Ali Begovic, said that I have attended countless events in various countries of the world, but the sincerity and love with which the children were rendering service at the Jalsa of the Ahmadiyya Jama'at — this scene I have never seen before. The workers of Jamia, that is, the student boys, workers, and volunteers who were serving us, he says, their manner of service captivated everyone's hearts.
A member of the delegation, Sandra, who is the head of the museum department, said: We do not know when these workers rest. Whenever you look, they are alert at their duty. She said that I have never seen such devoted volunteers in my life before. Then the ceremonies of the international Bai'at, especially the prostration of gratitude and people's praying with weeping and lamentation, was a cause of astonishment for all of us.
Then, a member, Maya, who is studying world religions at Zagreb University, she also asked me several questions. She says that I was very satisfied with the answers. I have been quite reassured. She said that if other Muslim and worldly leaders would also seek guidance from Khalifatul Masih, many problems could be resolved peacefully. The question she had asked was: Why, despite gaining education in a civilized society, are people still inclined towards violence? Why are they becoming jihadis? I had given her a very detailed answer to this. In any case, she was quite reassured.
Roberta, a Master's student of English and French from Croatia, also asked a question regarding the leaders of various religions and the achievement of peace. Then she says I was greatly satisfied with the answer.
From Haiti, Gary Guiteau, who is the Director of the Ministry of Culture in Haiti, attended the Jalsa. He says that for the first time from our country, Haiti, a government representative has attended this magnificent Jalsa of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya. I felt extremely happy to attend this Jalsa. Seeing your system, I openly say that the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is an exemplary Jama'at for the entire world. Seeing all the volunteers at the Jalsa working with a special spirit causes great astonishment and envy. All are included among these volunteers — young and old, men and women, all are included. Later, they were given a tour of the Mosque. When they went to the Mosque, they prayed with great respect in their own way. After this, they then prostrated for a long time there. Then I present the impressions of some new converts. A lady from Mexico, Yanna Lopez Rejon, says that this Jalsa has taught me many things. Not only has the reality of my own life been revealed to me, but I have also learned about the reasons for the present condition of the Muslim world. I had previously learned of a community that was very united and had centers in various countries, but now, after attending the Jalsa, I have realized that it is certainly not as united as the Jama'at Ahmadiyya, nor is that community as widespread as the Jama'at Ahmadiyya. Earlier, I thought that the sect to which I belonged was correct, but through the speeches of Jalsa Salana, I learned that here the noble example of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is followed. I used to pray, O Allah! Include me among the best of people and guide me through true Khilafat, and grant me the ability to use my capabilities for the propagation of Islam, and to be of use to those in need. Now I understand that Allah the Almighty has accepted my prayer. He has now granted me the ability to join the Jama'at Ahmadiyya.
Then a new convert from Belize, Evan Vernon, whose Islamic name is Hamza Rashid, says that during these three days of the Jalsa, I learned about the vastness of the Jama'at. The organization and arrangement of this Jalsa has within it a magical quality. I saw at this Jalsa people from various classes who came from more than 80 (eighty) countries, including both poor and rich. There were politicians as well as government officials. Countless volunteers worked for the success of this Jalsa, and the hospitality was very excellent.
The Sadr Lajna of the Marshall Islands, Mary Lintha Johnny — she is also a new Ahmadi. She says, all praise belongs to Allah. Jalsa Salana was a great blessing for me. Since I have come here, I have seen only love and affection among my brothers and sisters and a feeling of one another's pain. After speaking with them, I felt as if we had known each other from before. She says, I saw the Jama'at's motto 'Love for All, Hatred for None' being expressed.
Then, about my speeches, she says that there was a strange feeling, and during them, tears flowed from my eyes at every word. I cannot express my feelings. Then the spectacle of the international Bai'at was also very mesmerizing and impactful. She says, undoubtedly, after attending the Jalsa, I have come closer to God Almighty than before. Then an African American Lajna also told me her dream. She says, I saw in a dream that I am offering prayer in a beautiful mosque, and that mosque is very vast and spacious, and there are many people there whom I do not even recognize. Each time I feel that I am now in some other country. She says, now after attending this Jalsa, I have received the interpretation of my dream. Here, people from various countries gather together in large numbers and offer prayers. Now my prayer to Allah the Almighty is that He grant me the ability to live my life as the best Muslim with complete obedience.
A new convert from Mexico, Mr. Bashir Cuyaso, says that people belonging to various countries of the world were filled with the spirit of love and devotion for the Khalifa of the time, which was unparalleled. The workers of the Jalsa were serving the guests voluntarily with an extreme spirit of devotion. The Jama'at Ahmadiyya is an exemplary Jama'at in the world that is presenting the picture of true Islam to the world.
The new convert from Mexico, Imam Ibrahim Chechu, who joined Ahmadiyyat along with his seventy followers. He says, my heart felt that during the days of the Jalsa, countless graces and blessings are descending, and under the shade of Khilafat, nations of various colors and races of the world are filled with mutual love and brotherhood. He says, while my knowledge increased through the speeches of the Khalifa of the time, I also received peace of heart. Every individual attending the Jalsa was bearing witness through their state that Islam is a religion of love and peace, which every nation and country needs.
From Panama, Gregoria Gonzales says that the gathering, organization, love, and brotherhood of various individuals at Jalsa Salana UK greatly impressed me. I felt that every individual loves the other from the heart. This was an exemplary gathering which produced a revolution in our spiritual life, and it is our responsibility to include others in it as well, and that they too become part of the Jama'at, and that the members of the Jama'at in Panama also become those who fully benefit from it. From French Guiana, a friend, Mr. Diavia Abdou, came, who had taken Bai'at in 2008. He attended the Jalsa for the first time. He says, I was Muslim by birth. I was the first to accept Ahmadiyyat in French Guiana. But today, by attending Jalsa Salana, I have felt what the true, real Islam is. I have now come to understand the reality of Ahmadiyyat and the importance of the Khalifa of the time. He says, the Khalifa of the time has shown the ways of living life, and every individual, by walking on these paths, can attain the pleasure of God Almighty.
From Belgium, a friend, Mr. Abdou Fall, came. He is from Senegal. He says, when I went to the mosque of the Ahmadis in Belgium, I saw a great deal of love and affection there. Then here too, I saw nothing but love and affection among the Ahmadis. This atmosphere of love, affection, and brotherhood greatly impressed me. By attending the international Bai'at, I also took Bai'at. The feelings and state I had at the time of Bai'at cannot be expressed. He says, I observed Ahmadis worshipping at the time of the Jalsa. Truly, Ahmadis are true Muslims. Then he says that the Khalifa is appointed by God. By attending this Jalsa and meeting with the Khalifa of the time, I saw with my own eyes and felt that the Khalifa is appointed by God.
A friend from the Philippines, Mr. Yul Adelf Olaya, who works at the United Nations. He took Bai'at last year. He says, all praise belongs to Allah — by attending the Jalsa, I found what I was searching for. Insha'Allah, now I will live my future life as an Ahmadi. The spirit of love and affection with which the volunteers worked during the Jalsa is praiseworthy. He says I saw them working from morning till night. Then I saw children serving water. It was a strange spectacle. Their love and affection captured my heart. He, too, was very emotional.
Then, from Mali, Dr. Kaita Hama'ullah came. He took Bai'at at the Jalsa. He says, the feelings I had during the Jalsa were produced for the first time in life. I have come here for the first time, and now I am leaving with the resolve that I will always come to future Jalsas. Then he says that even if the enemy makes their full effort, they cannot organize even a tenth of a tenth of this Jalsa. In my view, even great powers like the United Nations of the world cannot organize such an arrangement. The Jama'at Ahmadiyya is truly a reality and truth. For this reason, I have accepted Ahmadiyyat from the depths of my heart.
While Ahmadis in some places are surrounded by restrictions, as I mentioned about Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, they too have remarkable feelings. A friend from Kazakhstan, Mr. Asker Umrov, attended the Jalsa. He says that by the grace of Allah the Almighty, I have attended Jalsa Salana several times before, but staying at Jamia was the first such experience. I think that the staying together of guests who came from various countries is very good, because through this one gets the opportunity to establish a strong relationship with one another, and above all, a large number of worshippers offer prayers. One gets the opportunity to offer prayer at the place of residence. This was very important for me, because at this time in Kazakhstan, we cannot gather in large numbers and offer prayers, and offering prayers here, I felt how deprived I have been from not offering congregational prayers. By the grace of Allah the Almighty, this time, as I mentioned, the central press team and the UK press team did good work, and this year, for the first time, the coverage of the Jalsa has been done in a much better manner. This has been mentioned earlier. And the message of Ahmadiyyat and true Islam has reached the world. Through the contact of the central press team, press and media people also came from other countries. They also had good impressions, as I have already mentioned in the impressions. Through the press, the message has reached approximately thirteen million people in the UK alone, and there are some others who are still writing articles or giving news whose information has not yet arrived. It is estimated that through this means, this message reached approximately twelve to thirteen million in the outside world. The introduction of Islam reached, and the teaching reached.
In connection with the press, I would also say that there are people of various religions in the press. Some believe in religion, some do not. Some believe in God, some do not. Those who come here are then impressed seeing this atmosphere. Anyway, various kinds of people come and attend — they have their own dress, they have their own traditions. Some wear modest dress, but among women, there is no scarf, etc. Women generally, when they come to our function, place a scarf on the head, but if they don't, there is no harm. We cannot bind them. But some of our men are accustomed to forcing. They resort to harshness. A representative of the BBC came. Her head was uncovered. A man went and placed a scarf on her head from behind. She is acquainted with our Ahmadi. She knows the Jama'at. She has taken my interview, and there she sat in a very modest dress with a scarf covering her head, but at that time, the scarf was not on her head. In any case, seeing this man's action, she laughed it off, but said to her Ahmadi friend that if it had been some other woman, she could have even gotten angry. She could have gotten angry or could have taken a wrong impression. So men should also remember that they have not been appointed as wardens. They should remain within their limits. It is not their job to go around placing scarves on the heads of non-mahram women. Men are commanded to lower their gaze. They should fulfill their own duty. The order to forcibly cover the head, whether of non-Muslims or one's own people, is nowhere given. It is such extremist men, of whom there may be one or two among us, who then bring disrepute to Islam and bring disrepute to the religion. None of you, or those like them, should think that they have been given the contract for reforming the world.
Two such incidents occurred. Similarly, an Ahmadi who was with another journalist, an Ahmadi told this Ahmadi to tell that woman that in our atmosphere it is necessary to cover the head, and to cover her head. So I would say to such men: First, sort out your own homes. It is these very actions that then drive people away from Islam. The reformation of the world will, Insha'Allah, happen on its own. As I narrated this incident of the Muslim journalist, that due to a command of extremism without wisdom, due to her father's behavior, she was driven away from Islam, drifted away, and adopted a rebellious attitude. But by coming here, when she saw the conduct and the freedom of Ahmadi women, the desire arose in her: I wish I had been born in an Ahmadi home.
So these reforms — the reform of women should take place through women, especially in Europe, where there is already this clamor that men exercise harshness and unnecessarily cruel treatment of women takes place. When men engage in such actions, such corruption is produced. So if there is any such matter, it is the work of women to explain with love and affection that here in this atmosphere, this is how it is, and Lajna does their work. And if someone has not covered themselves with anything, it makes no difference. Their dress is, in any case, modest according to them. Similarly, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, MTA also plays a great role in conveying the programs of the Jalsa to our own and to others, and this year it had a very great role as always. Where the Ahmadis who watched the Jalsa proceedings through it expressed happiness and gratitude, non-Ahmadis also expressed very good impressions about it. Non-Ahmadi Arabs also sent very good impressions this time, and even said that this is the true Islam which the world needs, which the Jama'at Ahmadiyya is spreading. And some also said that this is the true system of Khilafat, which the Muslim Ummah needs today.
Then this year, the programs of the Jalsa on MTA were also shown for some hours daily during the three days of the Jalsa by the National TV of Ghana, the National TV of Sierra Leone, and a private TV channel of Nigeria. This too had a very good effect in those areas and countries, and there is very good feedback that by watching this program, we came to know the reality of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya and Islam. Some of these impressions are as follows. One impression that has been received from Ghana is that a non-Ahmadi friend from Kumasi Ghana has written that I had heard a great deal about the Jama'at, but when I saw your programmes on Ghana TV, I was greatly astonished that everything our local Imam tells us about the Jama'at is all lies, and for the first time I have seen any Muslim Jama'at presenting the true teachings of Islam in such a beautiful manner and condemning extremism.
Then similarly, an Ahmadi friend who is writing this report says that I was watching your programs on Ghana TV with my non-Ahmadi sister, and seeing the proceedings of the Jalsa, this non-Ahmadi sister decided to become Ahmadi. He says, for the first time, I saw the live coverage of the international Bai'at. And then he writes, I am very proud of being Ahmadi. He says, I have watched these programs sitting with some of my Christian friends, and they were astounded seeing the magnificent progress of the Jama'at.
A friend from Ghana says that Ahmadiyyat is the message of the teaching of only peace and love. I have fallen in love with this Jama'at. Soon I will join the Jama'at.
Then, a non-Ahmadi gentleman, after watching the proceedings of the Jalsa, writes that I have learned of the philosophy and objectives of this Jama'at. I will join the Ahmadiyya Jama'at very soon.
Then similarly, there are many other people who have sent their impressions saying that we watched all these programs, and Insha'Allah, we will join the Jama'at soon.
Then a Christian friend from Sierra Leone, France Forbi, says that your Jalsa programs this morning were a source of great blessing for me. I was greatly impressed by the live coverage of the Jalsa. Thank you. Then, an Ahmadi friend from Sierra Leone, Alhaj Ali Mame Sese, says that I had invited my neighbors to my home to show them the Jalsa programs. I saw that most people in Sierra Leone were watching the live broadcast of the Jalsa. Abu Bakr Konte says, what a magnificent Jalsa it was. May Allah the Almighty spread this Jama'at throughout the world.
A non-Ahmadi friend from Freetown says that I watched the broadcasts of the Jalsa, which are very good. Then a friend wrote that I watched the proceedings of Jalsa Salana with my non-Ahmadi friends, and they were greatly impressed.
Nigerian Television also showed this program this time, and the viewership of those who watch this TV is also very large. They estimate that millions of people watched and listened to the speeches of the Jalsa. This is in addition to the media that have been mentioned in connection with the press. Then this year, through MTA's live streaming, on the last day, three hundred and thirty thousand people watched the proceedings of the Jalsa on the internet. And in the remaining days too, the number was several thousand more compared to previous years. And those who watch on MTA are in addition to this.
So you have heard these impressions. You have also heard the state of coverage. But we should always remember that these things should produce in us further enthusiasm to advance our steps further, and we should not sit content, thinking that we have achieved a great deal. Progressive nations remain in the search of better and better. We know, and we should keep an eye on the fact that we also have some weaknesses. On a large scale, weaknesses occur in arrangements and remain — this is not something unusual — but in any case, efforts should be made to remove them. The administration should note all these weaknesses and resolve them next year, remedy them. And these weaknesses do not occur only because of the workers, but rather some stubborn participants and their attitudes also sometimes create such situations, so arrangements should be made for them too. They too should come having reformed themselves.
For example, a matter from the women's side reached me that in the women's main marquee, a woman was sitting with a child. A worker said to her that this is not a place for children to sit. So she said okay, I did not know, I will go. Later, this same worker found out that the woman who was sitting was not Ahmadi but a non-Ahmadi. So she went and apologized to her, saying that if your child is not making noise, then it is fine, you may certainly continue to sit. But an Ahmadi woman sitting next to her started arguing with the worker, saying we have no problem, so what is your problem, and she said such things. Now, thank goodness the worker came to her senses and did not take the matter further, and quietly went away from there. But then that lady started asking, Is it a Hadith that one definitely cannot sit here. Such stubborn women — especially among women, this happens more, sometimes there are also such people among men — they need to change their attitudes. Otherwise, these very good effects that are being produced on people, which people have seen, perhaps would not have been. Thank goodness that in this situation, at least those people who would have noted this thing were not present there. As for the question of whether it is a Hadith, both the Hadith and the Quran say that whatever instruction is given, no matter from whom, obey it. There is the command of obedience to the Amir. Rather, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that even if your Amir is appointed who is the size of a raisin's head, even then obey him. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Adhan, Bab Imamatul Abd wal Maula, Hadith number 693)
So do not display such rebellious attitudes over trivial matters as whether it is a Hadith or not. The Hadith is this: Obey. And adherence to it is necessary for everyone who calls themselves Ahmadi. But these female workers and male workers should also note this instruction from now on: that if anyone displays such an attitude, they should inform their senior officer, and they should cancel whatever AIMS Card they have, and then they will not be permitted to attend the Jalsa. The Jama'at Ahmadiyya does not need those who hold such rebellious attitudes.
In terms of administration, there was also a complaint from the women's side that sometimes there was no arrangement for cleanliness, etc., in the toilets. Regarding the other arrangements, I will inform the administration. The standard of food and bread was generally praised this time. May Allah the Almighty grant the ability to make it even better. Then there is also a complaint that sometimes, if any elderly person or any patient was late for food, complaints came from the women's side that they were refused food. Whoever comes, at whatever time they come — especially patients, children, and the elderly — if they come for food and food is available, they should be given food. Rather, arrangements should be made for such people that whenever they come, food should be given. They should be seated comfortably and informed that you are receiving food because of being a patient or because of the child, and going forward, whatever the time may be, it should also be made clear: if, for some reason, you have become late today, the food times tomorrow are this and this, please come at these times. But the attitude should be sympathetic and loving.
Similarly, the experiment of constructing washroom toilets, etc., on a large scale in the tents this time has also been praised. A complaint came from the Russian guests that the arrangement at Jamia was good, but the transport arrangement was insufficient, due to which there was a delay in coming to the Jalsa, and one or two of their speeches or some part of them would be missed. Similarly, on the return as well, they would be late, due to which Tahajjud would be missed. So in this regard, the transport system needs to be further improved next year. They should record this in their Red Book. In any case, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, on the whole, the Jalsa went well. The guests took good impression. As I said, the speeches of the speakers were also good by the grace of Allah the Almighty. May Allah the Almighty always keep these good effects established and grant the ability to make them part of one's life. And just as the guests have thanked all the workers, I also thank all the male workers, and I also thank the female workers. May Allah the Almighty reward them and accept this service of theirs. May He grant them the ability to serve more than before in the future, and may it not be only outward service, but may He also produce in them the true spirit of the teaching of Islam, and may He make all — both the participants and the workers — true and sincere Ahmadis.
